VERY NICE VARIATION LARGE JAPANESE CAVALRY OFFICER SWORD
This is a very nice example of a Large Variation of a Japanese Cavalry Officer’s Sword, Type 19 and would have been in service all the way up to World War II. It is mounted with a plated machine made large, beefy blade that measures 28 1/2 inches in length by 1 3/16 inches at the widest. The blade remains in very nice original condition with only some minor surface blemishes. It wears a very nicely detailed pommel which frames a lovely horn hilt that although only a portion of the twisted wire remains, has survived in very healthy condition. The hilt also continues to wear much of the original bright gold wash and the backstrap features a lovely floral motif. The plated scabbard has a couple of small dings and some light flaking, otherwise also remains in very good serviceable condition. Overall measuring 36 3/4 inches in length.
