WWII US Horstmann Philadelphia military sword & scabbard Etched blade beautiful!! Antique sword in the scabbard/sheath. Marked Horstmann Corporation, Philadelphia (with a symbol underneath). The BLADE IS 30″ LONG and 7/8″ wide nearest the handle. It comes with a 31 long scabbard and has beautifully etched blade. The blade is marked US on side, and under an American Eagle on the other side, marked E PLURUBUS UNUM. The handle looks very elaborate and has a black grip. There are 2 loops attached to the sheath. So that it will hang on a belt. NOTE: there is one rough spot near the tip of the scabbard (see photo it has a little rust or something developing). Naturally, there are signs from use (minor scratches), and it likely will need a good polishing to remove the very faint tarnishing. That’s all the history that I know about this piece. It is from a smoke-free home. I know that often these swords have someone’s name on them but I cannot find one.
Pre WWII M1924/30 Yugoslavian Mauser Long Bayonet Yugo Sword Military War Riffle. In Vintage condition, has some age, wear and a tiny bit of rust. Looks like its missing a tiny piece at the bottom of the bayonet. The scabbard has a dent about the size of a thumb, See Picture #4. The Scabbard has a #1356 stamped the clip. I couldn’t find any marking on the bayonet. Please look through the pictures to see the condition of the bayonet. 20 Long without the scabbard. 21 Long with the scabbard. If you have any question, please don’t hesitate to ask! FN Model 24 and Model 30. The FN Model 1924 series is a line of Mauser Gewehr 98 pattern bolt-action rifles produced by the Belgian Fabrique Nationale. They are similar to the Czech vz. 24 rifle, however have an intermediate length 215mm/ 8.46 in. Action, featuring open sights, 7.65×53mm, 7×57mm or 8×57mm IS chambering, Long rifle, Short Rifle and carbine-length barrels, hardwood stocks, and straight or curved bolt handles. This pattern rifle was discontinued from production and was no longer offered after 1932 being totally replaced by the 1930 pattern. The FN Model 1930 series is also a line based on the Mauser Gewehr 98 pattern rifles that have the standard length 223mm/ 8.8 in. They feature open sights, 7.65x53mm, 7x57mm, 8×57mm IS. 30-06 Springfield or 7.62×51 NATO chambering, Long rifle, Short Rifle and carbine-length barrels, hardwood stocks, and straight or curved bolt handles. After World War I and the German defeat, Belgium manufactured derivative of the Mauser 98, slightly modified. [2] The rifle series was modified depending on each customer’s needs. [3] The designation Mle 24/30 is incorrect strictly speaking, since the Model 24 rifle is different from the Model 30. The confusion comes from the fact both versions were marketed at the same time in the 1930s. [1] The last Mauser pattern rifles were produced in 1964. The first Mauser-pattern rifle produced in Yugoslavia was the M24. Nearly all M24’s were produced either before or during World War II, at the Kragujevac Arsenal plant. The M24 and Model 1924 are nearly identical. All M24 series weapons are designed to accept the M-24 pattern bayonet. The final additions to the M24 family were the M24/47 rifle. These were produced by reworking existing prewar Serbian Model 24 Mausers and then refurbished with new parts at the Zastava Arms (formally Kragujevac Arsenal) plant, which was at that time under the control of the postwar communist government. The “47” of the M-24/47 indicated the beginning of the rebuild program of 1947. The rebuild program lasted into the early 1950s alongside new production of M48 rifles. M24 series rifles were used by the Royal Yugoslav Army and by nearly all sides during World War II in Yugoslavia. This recent Estate find is an ANTIQUE United States Naval Dress Sword made by WMH BELLIS, ANNAPOLIS, MD. Zellars had a Destroyer named after him – USS ZELLARS (DD-777) and has a plaque erected in his memory at THE US NAVAL ACADEMY in Annapolis, Maryland. Zellar graduated from the Naval Academy in 1920 and likely obtained the sword at that time. It may be older than this date. The maker, WMH BELLIS, from google searches is believed to have gone out of business between 1936 and 1949. Measurements – 37″ Long x 5″ (at widest). Sword and Scabbard are in Very Good condition for use and age with some expected wear. Everything is fully in tact with readable engravings and beautiful design work on the blade. Scabbard shows more more on the leather as would be expected for a 100 year old piece. Handle has very slight wobble where it meets butt, but fully in tact and solid. This is truly a RARE find with such a prominent history of it’s owner. Please see condition description and all pictures.
