It was rarely photographed during the short period of peace this helmet has known. After the defeat of the French army in 1940 and the signing of the Armistice in June, this model remained in in the navy buildings assigned to both sides. One side residual forces of the Government of Marshall Pétain, the other side being the troops of the’free French’, alongside the allies. Thus, this helmet model 39 remained in staffing throughout the second world war, and its production is resumed in the aftermath of the war for the needs of the Navy in the far East. It would seem that the 39 Navy model was only manufactured by Dunois Vincennes. Dieser seltene französische Helm erschien 1939. This is an extremely nice example of a Japanese Army Dress Parade Sword that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a beautiful machine made blade that measures 32 3/8 inches in length. The blade remains in very nice original condition with its gorgeous chemically applied temper line still beautifully present on either side. The beautifully detailed guard remains in very nice condition as well and wears a lovely silver Japanese Samurai family mon on the backstrap. The lovely carved horn hilt has survived in very healthy condition and with all of its twisted wire wrap still securely in place. Up for sale is one Pre World War 2 US Navy Submarine SONAR Sound Head Projector ASDIC. I don’t have much information on this unit but it is definitely a RARE FIND. It is either a Magnetostriction or Piezo Transducer based on my research but could also be a Fessenden Oscillator. The unit was connected to an oscilloscope and you can see oscillations when tapping on the projector head. I did google the part numbers on the unit shown in the pictures but wasn’t able to find any information. The whole assembly is made of mostly brass and possibly nickel or stainless steel. There is some sort of rubber material on the back of the projector head. The unit measures around 24 inches long and has a long two conductor cable attached. The SONAR head comes in a rugged storage case with no part numbers or markings. The numbers on the Sound Head are as follows.. ESO – 671351 (In Brass Casting). 35 ONR5 (Hand Painted). USN 62190 – 000675 (Stamped in Brass). 5B 20 (Stamped in Brass). BARGE CR C G 6B (Stamped in Brass). This SONAR Head is a very unique piece of history and belongs in a museum.
