This is an ORIGINAL example of the Model 1902 Officer’s Dress Sword/Saber and scabbard, as worn during dress uniform occasions. The saber was manufactured in Germany (see image of ricasso) and so I have placed its vintage between the World Wars. The saber is chromed and engraved with the Army coat-of-arms on the reverse surface and on the obverse has U. ” and the name of the officer “Edwin J. Saradakis engraved in the blank space provided there. The sword and nickel-plated scabbard are both in VERY GOOD+ condition and show no defects or scratches and only needs a good polishing. The all-volunteer’Blue Division’ was a formation of volunteers that allowed Franco’s technically neutral Spain to support Nazi Germany’s invasion of Russia. Following initial training in Germany, the Blue Division’s units were sent to the Eastern Front in August 1941, where the Division fought in several major battles including Leningrad. In 1943, with the tide turning against the Axis forces in Russia, the Division was ordered to be withdrawn, yet many men chose to stay on and serve with the Volunteer Legion. Even after the collapse in the East, some volunteered to serve with Waffen-SS units through to the fall of Berlin in 1945. This is an amazing lot of 6 original Type 1 first photographs of the infamous Francisco “Pancho” Villa and US Army during the Battle Of Juarez in June 1919 during the Mexican Border Wars. Photos include The Man himself (taken on July 2, 1919 while waiting for his troops to board train), 24th Buffalo Soldier Regiment, 19th Infantry Regiment and the famous 7th Cavalry Regiment. Most are 6.5 x 8.5 inches each. This was the final battle of Villas career and he retired soon after receiving a pardon for his crimes. He was assassinated in 1923. The main photo has some creases and some ink bleed from the caption on the back. On the back, is the exact caption that bled through onto the front. Looks like it was draped over the front then repositioned on the back. The other images are in great shape with only minor edge distress. Please study the images. All are 100 years old and guaranteed to pass Type 1 authentication. Please read my feedback. I will always stand by the sale.
