Circa 1920’s Full Dress General Officer’s Visor Cap. There is very detailed bullion work around the band. Not sure who the maker is, or the size. In good condition; the sweatband is worn, stained and is missing stitching about half-way around. The bullion vein work design is largely gone, but still has a great look. Order pro Merito Melitensi. Rare Grand Officer’s set in original Box. Of the Order with original ribbon and ties, large crown with elaborate suspension and ribbon retainer. Badge measures 53 mm in width and 90 mm from the bottom of the cross. To the top of the circle. Crown measures 36 mm in width. Neck ribbon measures 50 mm in width. Centre medallions of the cross are near 22 mm in diameter. Badge is well made, hand etched borders (same as on the badge on the breast star), centre disc not rotates. Features badge of the order (cross) and separately applied crown a top. Breast star is lightly vaulted. 86 mm in width, cross is 45.5 mm wide, crown is 11 mm wide, weight 63,6 grams. Centre medallions are near 20 mm in diameter. Excellent quality,’diamond-cut’ body of the star. Vertical pin for fastening, original catch/hinge/pin in top condition. Crown attached to the star via 2 folded prongs. Plaque on the reverse: E. Cravanzola, Roma via del Corso 341. No damage to enamels, shows age and spotty tarnish. 1920’s-1930’s era USN Officer’s Submariner Badge, full size, pin back, with stabilizing needle attached to Conning Tower. This is the very early style of Submariner’s badge which came into being in it’s metal form in the early 1920’s-1924, I believe. This badge is hallmarked “Myrgold” and is a very scarce badge. Try finding this era Sub badges-first of all there just weren’t that many issued and second, not that many survived!
