RARE Antique USMC NICARAGUA Merito MEDAL OF DISTINCTION Steel Stamping Die JN936. This listing is for the original antique steel stamping die used to make the obverse of the Nicaragua Medal of Distinction. This die made the medals presented to the US Navy and United States Marine Corps members for service in the 1920’s. The octagonal die has dimensions 1 ¼” x 1 ¼” and stands 2 high. GERMAN SPANISH CIVIL WAR CROSS ORDER ESPANA (AL MERITO EN CAMPANA BLUE DIVISION). Topdog Presents: Always interesting Toys and Models! Very rare order it was also was given to German officers who fought in Civil Spanish War 1936-39 on the side of General Franco. All pins on the back are correct. I acquired it from a large WW2 collection. German involvement began days after fighting broke out in July 1936. Adolf Hitler quickly sent in powerful air and armored units to assist the Nationalists. The war provided combat experience with the latest technology for the German military. However, the intervention also posed the risk of escalating into a world war for which Hitler was not ready. Therefore, he limited his aid, and instead encouraged Benito Mussolini to send in large Italian units. Nazi Germany’s actions included the formation of the multitasking Condor Legion, a unit composed of volunteers from the Luftwaffe and the German Army (Heer) from July 1936 to March 1939. Order pro Merito Melitensi. Rare Grand Officer’s set in original Box. Of the Order with original ribbon and ties, large crown with elaborate suspension and ribbon retainer. Badge measures 53 mm in width and 90 mm from the bottom of the cross. To the top of the circle. Crown measures 36 mm in width. Neck ribbon measures 50 mm in width. Centre medallions of the cross are near 22 mm in diameter. Badge is well made, hand etched borders (same as on the badge on the breast star), centre disc not rotates. Features badge of the order (cross) and separately applied crown a top. Breast star is lightly vaulted. 86 mm in width, cross is 45.5 mm wide, crown is 11 mm wide, weight 63,6 grams. Centre medallions are near 20 mm in diameter. Excellent quality,’diamond-cut’ body of the star. Vertical pin for fastening, original catch/hinge/pin in top condition. Crown attached to the star via 2 folded prongs. Plaque on the reverse: E. Cravanzola, Roma via del Corso 341. No damage to enamels, shows age and spotty tarnish. Original box: 238 mm x 120 mm x 42 mm. Excellent set, hard to find. Period is difficult to determine, probably 1940 or close.
