This is a very nice example of a German Hirschfanger Dagger Short Sword which dates from the early 20th Century. It is mounted with a lovely straight beefy spearpoint blade that measures 9 3/4 inches in length by 1 1/4 inches at the widest. The blade has survived in beautiful, original condition with only some minor surface blemishes and continues to wear all of its nice markings on either side. It wears a nicely detailed straight German silver crossguard which frames an impressive stag horn hilt that fits well in the grip and features a beautiful silver escutcheon with the itinials of the original owner on one side. The deep rich dark green leather scabbard also remains in very nice original condition with just some wear to the leather finish on the tip. Overall measuring 16 1/8 inches in length. Since some people want to play God and erase history instead of having the future leaders learn from the mistakes of the past, they prefer to hide it or censor the worlds past. But we all know what it is and there is no damage under the blurs, if you want to see it uncensored this is listed on craigslist at Pittsburgh Pa. This is in great clean shape, the braids are still intact around the handle, has some small nicks and scratches, and a small dent at bottom of scabbard, i only wiped this with a rag and did no other type cleaning, i would leave that to new owner. There is no name on blade that i can find, i was told that is normal and there were dagger made that had no name. Great collectible of military German items.
