This is a very nice example of a French Cavalry Officer Sword, Model 1923. The straight blade measures 35 1/2 inches in length and remains in nice condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The lovely basket guard features beautiful floral designs and frames a healthy carved horn hilt that remains tight and sturdy and with its original twisted wire wrap still securely in place. The metal scabbard is a bit scuffed but does remain in nice serviceable condition and has no dings. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. Check out my other items. Bronze French art medal / plate , Rare original by : ALBERT POMMIER (1880 – 1943). Soldier of the First World War 1914 – 1918. Albert Pommier, born January 11, 1880 in Paris and died in the same city in 1943, is a French sculptor. This is a beautiful French Made Chilean Presentation Sword for the well known Argentinean Physician, Politician and Diplomat Marcos Jose Arce (15 October 1881 – 27 July 1968). This gorgeous Sword features a gilded brass hilt that is exquisitely detailed with cut out design and engravings and crowned with the head of a condor for the pommel. The guard remains very nice and tight and frames beautiful mother of pearl grips that have survived in excellent condition as well. It is mounted with a multi fullered, wonderfully etched blade that measures 32 inches in length and is named “MARCOS JOSE ARCE” on one side. The blade has also survived well with only minor blemishes and surface staining. The outstanding silvered scabbard is fabulously engraved and also remains in superb condition with no dings. Three Bullion overseas strips and two Bullion wound strips. In one of the more amazing what were they thinking moments you can see the outline and some thread damage where someone carefully removed a US Pilots wing!!!!! Why you would just remove the US wing is beyond me! There is some fairly minor mothing on the sleeve, front and inside illustrated in the pictures. A very, VERY rare tunic and insignia.
