It was rarely photographed during the short period of peace this helmet has known. After the defeat of the French army in 1940 and the signing of the Armistice in June, this model remained in in the navy buildings assigned to both sides. One side residual forces of the Government of Marshall Pétain, the other side being the troops of the’free French’, alongside the allies. Thus, this helmet model 39 remained in staffing throughout the second world war, and its production is resumed in the aftermath of the war for the needs of the Navy in the far East. It would seem that the 39 Navy model was only manufactured by Dunois Vincennes. Dieser seltene französische Helm erschien 1939. This is a very nice example of a French Cavalry Officer Sword, Model 1923. The straight blade measures 35 1/2 inches in length and remains in nice condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The lovely basket guard features beautiful floral designs and frames a healthy carved horn hilt that remains tight and sturdy and with its original twisted wire wrap still securely in place. The metal scabbard is a bit scuffed but does remain in nice serviceable condition and has no dings. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. Check out my other items. Admirer of the work of Bernard Palissy, Albert Pommier studied drawing with the French painter Joseph Bail. He distanced himself from the School of Fine Arts, and decided to work at home to learn his trade. In 1905 he exhibited a series of statues at the Salon des artistes français. In 1914 Albert Pommier won the Abd-el-Tif Prize, which allowed him to be a boarder at Villa Abd-el-Tif, but could not benefit until the end of the First World War, after the demobilization. During the war, a stretcher-bearer in the 3rd Battalion, 11th Infantry, he wrote about the aspects of soldier’s life in the trenches. Original period – Good condition, no shock. This is a beautiful French Made Chilean Presentation Sword for the well known Argentinean Physician, Politician and Diplomat Marcos Jose Arce (15 October 1881 – 27 July 1968). This gorgeous Sword features a gilded brass hilt that is exquisitely detailed with cut out design and engravings and crowned with the head of a condor for the pommel. The guard remains very nice and tight and frames beautiful mother of pearl grips that have survived in excellent condition as well. It is mounted with a multi fullered, wonderfully etched blade that measures 32 inches in length and is named “MARCOS JOSE ARCE” on one side. The blade has also survived well with only minor blemishes and surface staining. The outstanding silvered scabbard is fabulously engraved and also remains in superb condition with no dings.
