US Navy Officers Model 1852 Sword & Knot Scabbard Engraved & Name Inscribed. Up for sale is a vintage US Navy Officers Sword & scabbard that has an engraved blade and the officers name inscribed into the blade. The blade is stamped Made in USA but I dont see a makers mark – could be engraved in the blade. The blade width is 3/4 and the fish skin type handle is plastic, and the engraving and condition lead me to believe this was a sword from WWI or WWII. The scabbard is marked in a couple of places 84. The blade measures 28 1/2″ long with total length of sword being 34″. If you have any questions please contact me. The only exception if if the item is oversized or unique and requires specialized packing then I will charge for the box. These charges are the buyers responsibility. Original and scarce two clasp US Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal engraved with first enlistment span and medal number named the Robert H. Calihan; medal has two correct USMC engraved 2nd and 3rd award clasps. Calihan enlisted in the Marine Corps at the San Francisco recruiting office on 14 March 1933. He would spend the next 25 years in the Marine Corps serving on board a number of ships and duty stations including service in the Pacific from 1944 to 1946 with the Fifth Marine Division and Fifth Amphibious Corps Motor Transport Battalion on Okinawa and during the Occupation of Japan. Excellent little set of items from a marine. The ribbon is separated from the medal but is original too it and could be conserved, the Engraving is gorgeous. This is a nice early example 1920-22 and is named and Numbered too a marine for his first enlistment. A great research project! Sanders received his first GCM while serving aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Tampa. The clasps are all engraved and dated as follows: CG-412 6/30/39 (CG-412 was a 81 foot patrol boat); Hunter Liggett 9/30/1942 (the USS Hunter Liggett was a Coast Guard manned attack transport that earned four WWII battle stars including for Guadalcanal); PSC-9 9/30/45; San Juan District 9/30/1948. I found a little information on Sanders on-line; he served aboard the USS Wyoming for gunnery instruction from 31 December 1942 until 24 January 1943. Sanders passed away in 1974 and is interred in Silver Brook. The Navy muster rolls include Sanders’ service number which can be used fro further research. Rare five enlistment USCG medal. 1919-20 Haitian Campaign Medal Navy amazing engraved on the brim named Pharmacist’s Mate 2nd Class attached to the 1st Marine Brigade otherwise known as. Belonged to Paul E Pirrone who was a Pharmacist Mate. Amazing medal never seen one engraved. Super choice medal Served in Haitian Campaign, China WWI, and Interwar period around the world. Direct from his Estate. More of his medals will be available this week. Earlier that year, the Negro Rebellion. Had erupted throughout Cuba among former black slaves. A 1st Provisional Marine Regiment of 450 men under Colonel. Lincoln Karmany was assembled in Philadelphia. At the same time, a 2nd Provisional Marine Regiment of 750 men under Colonel James Mahoney assembled at Key West, Florida. The two regiments sailed for Cuba aboard the USS Prairie. With 1st Battalion, 2nd Regiment, landing at Havana. And the remainder of the force at Guantanamo. There they combined to form the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade in early June under Karmany, and the United States Marines fanned out in Oriente Province. Occupying 26 towns and controlling all rail traffic in the area. The Marines protected United States sugar plantations. And El Cobre until late July when the Cuban government was able to clamp down on the revolt. Another 1st Marine Brigade. Was created once again during the Occupation of Haiti. This brigade, however, was not considered a “provisional” unit and maintained a permanent establishment in Haiti from 1915 to 1934. The 1st Marine Brigade was considered a separate unit lineage, and it was reactivated in 1941 and expanded to form the 1st Marine Division.
