We offer you a rare collection photograph 17th border detachment of the NKVD USSR. January 25, 1925, the date of establishment of the 17th border detachment of the OGPU. The place of deployment of the detachment is the city of Timkovichi, Kopyl district, Minsk region. February 14, 1936 for heroic service in the protection of the western borders of the USSR, the 17th border detachment of the NKVD was awarded the Order of the Red Banner. On January 17, 1939, as a result of the annexation of the Western region of Belarus to the USSR, the 17th Red Banner Timkovichi border detachment of the NKVD of the USSR was redeployed to the city of Brest, where it took under protection a section of the State border along the Western Bug River with a length of 182 km. On June 22, 1941, the 17th border detachment of the NKVD took the first battle in the Brest Fortress, the legendary defense of which for several weeks went down in the history of World War II. The photo shows one of the leaders (commanders) of the OGPU-NKVD border detachment – D. Proletarians of all countries unite! 17th Timkovy border detachment of the OGPU (NKVD). US NAVY SERVICEMAN’S TRAPUNTO BANNER commemorating CHINA and JAPAN VOYAGE, 1927. US Navy serviceman’s silk trapunto banner commemorating a voyage to China and Japan, November 1927. Commemorates the voyage of Joe Dillon on the S. President Jefferson to China and Japan and the Philippines: Seattle, San Francisco, Honolulu, Manila, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Victoria, Yokohama, Kobe and Shimidzu. 17×20 inches not including the protective paper edging (shown in second photo). Beautifully and intricately embroidered with eagle, flags and depiction of the S. These banners were very popular and sought after by servicemen as souvenirs at the time; this one obviously kept as a cherished memento. Most were produced in Japan, this one by m. Hasegawa and marked Embroiderer Coat of Arms and Portrait Painting on Silk, Yokohama, Japan. Excellent condition, protected by the paper backing and edge-covering. Paper backing is very good on the sides and fair on the back.

The Order of the Red Banner of Labor of the Uzbek SSR was established on December 30, 1925, since the republic was one of the main suppliers of cotton, in 1930 the second version of the order was established and the old version was forcibly replaced with a new one. The awards lasted until 1933 inclusive. A total of 466 awards were given to individuals.
