Offering an old Java-China-Japan Lyn map from a local estate. Printed in Great Britain By George Philip & Son Limited. The estate had a few items of Vice Admiral Francis C. This map and another was found inside a box with his name on it and China Map written on it. I bought some of his photos as well as a family crest all wrapped in the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper dated 1987; the year he passed away. This map has been well used has a hole and and I don’t have the missing piece. There are many old tape repairs on the back and the map came lose from the top wooden rod. The map is still attached to the bottom rod. The rods appear to be mahogany. I don’t see a date on the map but it may be below the bottom rod. The map not including rods measures approx. 28 3/4 across by 31 inches long. Please feel to ask any questions. The map and one photo of Vice Admiral Francis C. Denebrink, a Navy veteran of both World Wars and of the Korean War, in which he was responsible for the logistic support of all United States naval forces, died April 8 1987 at Letterman Army General Hospital in San Francisco. He was 90 years old. In World War II, Admiral Denebrink, in command of the cruiser Brooklyn, which was on the scene when the American transport Wakefield, formerly the passenger liner Manhattan, caught fire Sept. 3, 1942, on her way from Europe to New York. In World War I he served on the destroyer Warrington, based at Queenstown, Ireland, and Brest, France. For 12 years after the war he alternated between sea and land duty. This is a vintage pair of aviator’s goggles with their aluminum case. The label on the strap is marked: E. The goggles have glass lenses and the bridge piece has an emblem with wings and the logo for American Optical Co. Was told by an ebayer that the mark was used on the goggles till 1929. The strap end hooks were bent slightly to remove them from the goggles. The aluminum case is 8 5/8″ long, 3″ wide and 1 3/4 high. It is marked “Aviator’s Goggle”. Someone had scratched “Simmie” onto the lid. The goggles are missing the inside padding. Former Japanese Army Photo Album China Guangzhou 1938-40 Approximately 170 photos Please check on the photos for detailed condition of the product. All you can see on this photo will be included in a set of a package. Approximately 170 photo albums of former Japanese soldiers containing photographs of Guangzhou, China between 1938 and 1940. On the first page of the cover of the photo album, there is a censorship stamp of the Guangzhou Jiangnan Kenhei Squad on June 21, 1940. This is probably because the soldier in Guangzhou, who was the owner of this photo album, finished his military service. The Japanese troops invaded and occupied Guangzhou around October 1938, so there is no doubt that it was during this period. Most of the photos were probably taken in Guangzhou. Therefore, it will be a valuable material at that time to know the shooting time and place. Although it is about the same, the cover and mount are peeled off. Some photos are peeled off. ONE OF A KIND. Ultra rare military artillery periscope with accessories and original wooden box. 10 X 40 lenses. This is the rarest and tallest field periscope ever made by Carl Zeiss. Only periscope (excluding tripod and goniometer) has a height of 1.15 meters and it can be extended to an height of 1.85 meters. This instrument can reach more than 3.5 meters when used in the tripod. There are usual Carl Zeiss models as manual monocular periscopes (to be used with no tripods), the trench binoculars (called donkey hears) or the binocular periscope made during the cold war and used in the Berlin wall. But this one is really impossible to find and, with to doubt, the rarest artillery periscope made by Carl Zeiss. Really impossible to find and may be exclusively made for the Argentinan army (this is the second one i see, and both made for the Argentinian army). Only periscope, excluding tripod and goniometer, weight more or less 30 lbs. Wooden case with metal locks is extremely solid and heavy and has two metal handles to be carried for two persons. Accessories on case are all originals and includes three stakes to keep this tall periscope firm, stable and centered thank to a bronze rotating ring with three holes to attach to each stake with a rope. It includes a foot with column to use it at ground level, an angular stick with screw to use it in a tree and an orange filter (signed by Carl Zeiss and the Argentinian army). If you want to place this instrument correctly, you need a huge area of more or less 4 x 4 meters to use stakes with a metal rope (i only used tripod on pictures, but if you use stakes it will look even more spectacular). Each steel stake has a hole to introduce a rope and a screw to lock it. Which makes it easy to give the rope just the right tension. This instrument has an impressive and original military tripod and a goniometer (both uncased) in perfect working order signed by the Argentinian army (both parts made by Carl Zeiss, but not signed by Zeiss). This amazing periscope has two handles to move it horizontally, and you can move it vertically turning same handles (as a motorcycle). It has two reels in handles with a strap to move mirror on top vertically (all working). So it is incredibly practical and simple. It has been made during 1920 s´ (Nedinsco era) and it has the serial number 1003. Periscope has been oiled and lenses, prism and mirror are in perfect condition so this instrument is completely operative. Vision is clear with small points of dust. It has been cleaned but not restored. It preserves its original antique condition and the original black paint on tube is in amazing condition considering its age. Of course it is a very old instrument so it shows signals of use, but overall condition is amazing considering its age. All is completely functional (even circular level is working). Tripod with extended legs and goniometer have an height of 1.70 meters so complete instrument can reach more than 3.5 meters. Tube diameter is 65 millimeters.
