A variety of a unique pith helmets from various times and places in the world. Helmets are all vintage, used and in various conditions of state. The blade is steel, straight, flat, hexagonal. Two cutting edges polished, no heel. The handle is round, wooden, plastic-topped orange. By spiral grooves handle wrapped with wire. At the bottom of a cylindrical sleeve, decorated with ornaments made of oak leaves. Spherical head handle, molded together with the upper nut. Decorated on both sides of the relief image of a s and an ornament from oak leaves. The head is screwed onto the blade shank and has a flat circular top a button. Cross-cast, from the front side in the form of a flying eagle carrying a s in its claws. On the reverse side has a cross dotted background. All metal parts are cast from aluminum hilt. The scabbard is made of metal, solid, surface covered with small dots. The end of the sheath round, with three embossed belts, decorated with ornaments made of oak leaves. Dimensions: Overall length: 430 mm, blade length: 255 mm, width of the blade: 18 mm. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Cavalry Officer’s Sword, Type 19 complete with all of its Accoutrement which includes the Sword Hanger, Sword Tassel Knot and Lanyard. This Sword would have been in service all the way up to World War II and is mounted with a slightly curved, grooved, plated machine made blade that measures 30 7/8 inches in length. The blade remains in very nice original condition with just minor surface blemishes. The guard wears a very nicely detailed pommel which frames a lovely horn hilt that has also survived in very healthy condition and the backstrap features a lovely silver family mon. The beautiful, original black Sword Knot is present and remains very nice in its condition. The corded Lanyard is also present and shows only slight wear. The plated metal scabbard has some light flaking along with some “hand” wear where it was carried and a very slight bend near the tip, otherwise also remains in very good serviceable condition. Also present on the scabbard is the original leather Belt Sword Hanger that has survived in very healthy condition as well. Overall the Sword measures 38 1/8 inches in length. Pre WW2 1927 China US Army 15th Regiment Tientsin 320+ Photographs Tianjin Photo Album was put together by US Army Soldier who served with the 15th Regiment Company “L” in Tientsin China. Not sure on exact date or name of the Soldier but is between 1925 to 1927 I believe. There is a large group photograph in beginning of album very sharp (10.5 by 7 inches) that may show George Marshall who was commanding the 15th Regiment at that time. I have attached many photographs some are scanned and other taken with a camera. Some loose photos and some missing on the pages. Photo are not stuck in, however the corner tabs have stuck to the front of the images. So left on the images is a small black remnant on the photo corner. Some corners have disconnected from the corner holders. These probably can be moistened and removed if so desired. I did pull a few off to see if there was some description on the reverse. I counted over 330 photographs. Over 90% are China with the remainder Philippines and a few Stateside. Please scroll down to see the photos of the album. I took some photos with camera and another group with a flatbed scanner. Photographs are a mix of Postcard sized Photos 5.5 by 3.25, 4.25 by 2.5 inches and 3.5 and 2.5 inches.
