A white enameled crowned eagle with spread wings, heading left is superimposed on the cross. Reverse: white framed cross, granular, without enamel and bearing the motto: ZA : OJCZY : ZNE : I / NARÓD (for Country and Nation) on the arms. Central medallion: white, with entwined cipher RP (Rzeczpospolita Polska Republic of Poland), surrounded by a green laurel wreath. Star: eight sets of plain sliver rays. This item has been in my possession for about 40 years. It from is deceased, history is unknown. Weights and Dimensions: Binoculars: 20.5 pounds, 24″ long, 9-1/2″ wide(folded close). Tripod: 10.5 pounds, 34″ long, x 8″ x 8 (collapsed). The three different magnification levels are achieved by rotating the “oculars”. Works like a turret — each side individual. This is a good example of a well made Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a lovely arsenal blade that wears a cutting edge which measures 26 1/4 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition with only some minor surface blemishes and a few light scratches on one side. The tang wears the signature ” TAKAMASA saku” on one side and a date that translates to “Showa juhachinen nen kugatsu (1943, September) ” on the other side. All the fittings including the wrapping remain very nice and clean. The metal scabbard also remains in nice with just a couple of tiny dings. Overall measuring 40 5/8 inches in length.
