Nice Japanese Dress Naval Officer Sword
This is a very nice example of a Japanese Naval Officer’s Dress Sword that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a beautiful machine made blade that measures 25 5/8 inches in length which although shows to have been lightly cleaned, does remain in nice condition. The D-guard is beautifully detailed with pretty cherry blossoms “sakura” motifs that adorn the pommel, the backstrap and the guard face and frame a lovely white samé covered hilt with the original twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. The wonderful shagreen covered scabbard has one scuff on one side, nevertheless also remains is in very nice condition and wears equally beautiful detailed fittings.
