This USMC officer sword was made by the Lilley-Ames Co. Columbus OH and Retailed by The C. New London OH about 1938. I can date it because it has the phenolic grip and slotted head screws. Before WWII USMC swords were only assembled in the USA. The blade of the very good condition sword is twenty-eights inches long. Look at the pictures and ask your questions. This is a good example of a Japanese War-Time Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a lovely arsenal blade that wears a cutting edge which measures 26 1/8 inches in length. The blade has some minor scratches on one side as well as some very minor stains on the other side, otherwise remains in good original condition. The signed tang wears the signature ” TAKAMASA ” along one side and a date that translates to “Showa juhachinen kugatsu (1943, September)” on its other side. All the beautiful quality fittings remain very nice in their condition. The metal scabbard has a few small working dings on one side only, nevertheless remains in very good serviceable condition as well. Overall measuring 40 1/2 inches in length. Named 1922 US Navy Good Conduct medal (Wilfred J Morin, USS Jason, 31 Aug 1922), with two engraved clasps (USS Jason, 1927 with the same CSC # as the good conduct medal, the other is 1931 and named on the back). He did not know anything about his uncles navy service other than the fact that he apparently retired in San Diego and operated a bar for the rest of his life. Very good condition and guaranteed original pre WWII Russian Model 1927 cavalry Shashka sword. Nicely unit marked on the blade and dated 1932. 31 ¾ blade has beautiful original bright finish and has been sharpened. Still has original leather washer at the base. Brass fittings have attractive patina. Dated 1932 on the lower fitting, pommel has beautiful hammer and sickle markings. Fitted in correct original leather covered scabbard that has steel fittings. All fittings are present including the sots for holding a Mosin Nagant socket bayonet. A hard to find WWII Russian cavalry saber that will make an impressive addition to your collection. This is a very nice example of a LATE War-Time Japanese Naval Officer’s Kai Gunto Sword. As World War II was coming to a close, the need of Swords for the Japanese Army still existed however, due to the lack of time as well as the shortage of materials, swords increasingly became more crudely assembled in the attempt to meet the urgent need. This particular Naval Officer’s Sword is mounted with a lovely Arsenal stainless steel blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 24 3/8 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition. The tang is hand painted with an assemble number which does MATCH all the other parts. The hurriedly finished tang has a tell tell notch at the habaki reflecting the urgency in the assembly of this Sword. The hilt and all the fittings do remain in wonderful original condition. The wooden scabbard wears a beautiful black samé covering as well as very nicely detailed fittings, all having survived beautifully in their condition. Overall measuring 36 7/8 inches in length. This is a very nice example of a rare and desirable custom RANDALL Fighting Knife which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a blade that measures 7 7/8 inches in length. The blade reflects good honest wear with crude sharpening scratches that could easily be removed in the right hand if desired. The markings RANDALL MADE Spfld. Do however remain very nice and clear. The leather ringed hilt also shows that it has been well used but does remain healthy in its condition as well. This Knife is wearing a Mosser type scabbard that remains in excellent condition with all the stitching still tightly intact. The sharpening stone is long gone.
