The Territory of the Saar Basin was a region of Germany occupied and governed by the United Kingdom and France from 1920 to 1935 under a League of Nations mandate. Germany re-integrated the region into the German Reich, appointing Josef Bürckel as Reichskommissar für die Rückgliederung des Saarlandes, Reich Commissioner for the reincorporation of the Saarland. Many photos of the German towns and countryside of the region of that time. This is a very awesome and RARE photobook! There is a roster of the Officers and Enlisted Men from pages 29 – 32. This Unit History Book does have identified member’s in group photos. The author, Joseph M. Smith, better known as the “top kicker” of Company “D” of the 412th, entered service with the rest of the boys as a private. Thank you for your interest in this item.
