Fully marked tag dates jacket to 12/26/1934 which coincides with his time spent in Quantico, VA. The epaulettes were found with jacket but may have been added at a later date in Groff’s career, since the leather straps are a tad short to fasten to jacket and safety pins were used to hold in place. No pants were found, just the jacket. Condition of jacket is very good with no moth holes, no smell and very clean. The inside collar red fabric has a partial tear and will need to be re-sewn/repaired(see close up photo). Outer gold applied collar will need to be re-sewn in a few areas, as it is loose in spots. John Groff (February 14, 1890 October 2, 1990) was a Brigadier General in the United States Marine Corps whose military career spanned from 1912 to 1946. Dating Pre World War II, this is a beautiful set of three British General Officer Dress Jackets along with one Vest. There is one formal Jacket which remains very nice in its condition and features a gilded “pearl” trim that nicely coordinates with the vest and continues to wear the outstanding shoulder boards with decorative insignias on either side. There is one very small tear inside the collar on the black liner and very light mothing but no holes. The informal Jacket also wears its shoulder board with decorative insignias however their buttons are missing. This Jacket also has some light mothing but no holes and remains very nice as well. This is a 1935 US Navy General Electric Tlechron large ships clock. It measures 10 inches in diameter across the face and 6 inches deep. It is mounted on a piece of wood, has a screw missing, plexiglass face has a coke ring and the plug is cut. Still a very nice old rare Naval clock. I do not know if it works.
