This is a rare example of a Japanese / Chosen (Korea) Hannin Level Official’s Sword that would have been carried by Japanese Officials assigned to the occupation Government. It is mounted with a machine made blade that wears a cutting edge which measures 25 3/4 inches in length and remains in nice condition with just some minor surface blemishes. The plain guard has also survived well and frames a beautiful white samé covered hilt with its original twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. The wooden scabbard remains very nice however shows to have been leather recovered at one time, however continues to wear all of its nicely coordinating brass fittings. The jacket itself is in excellent shape as are the button fly slacks.. His name , as a Colonel, is on the tailors tag as well as the date 1931. There is also an envelope with his name and address. Nice M-1938 Pattern Col dress blue jacket. The shoulder straps have snap attachments, the CIB is bullion and sewn on with the ribbon bars clutch back. There isn’t a name on the tailor’s tag nor any identification on the piece. The jacket itself is in excellent shape. This was in the collection which I’m liquidating.
