Button works and is spring loaded. Knife has been sharpened and or used. Wood handle is in good condition also. I believe it’s walnut. Not sure if it WW1 or WW2. The medal has a split wrap brooch and is numbered on the rim with M. The rim is numbered in the right range as they go from M No. 10500 for the 2nd Nicaraguan Campaign Medal for the US Navy. ORIGINAL PRE WWII 1930s / 40 USMC NAMED GROUPING LATER WIA GUADALCANAL. Bought from veterans estate. He served from 1935 to 1945. Started out in the NYNM, Marine Corps Reserves at New Rochelle NY. Active duty starting in 1940 with the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Division. He landed on Guadalcanal November 4, 1942. He was wia the 21st when he was wounded by Japanese machine gunner putting a bullet through his shoulder. He served through 1945 but did not go back to the Pacific. Lot of pre war USMC, tunic – named to another Marine, shirt – named – has some age browning, overseas cap – named. Trousers with some age browning. This was the second helmet developed by the Arsenal of the Artillery in Trubia. It was submitted in 1926 for examination. Spain officially adopted the model in 1930. At once 20.000 pieces were ordered. The helmet was also known as the helmet with wings (‘con ala’). The model was widely used in the Spanish Civil war by both parties. Rare WWII USMC DROOP WING China Marine EGA set. Condition is “Used” but a rare find. The collar set has been trenched as you can see the globes have been buffed out.
