On 7 December 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, and Arizona was hit by several air-dropped armor-piercing bombs. One detonated an explosive-filled magazine, sinking the battleship and killing 1,177 of its officers and crewmen. The shipwreck still lies at the bottom of Pearl Harbor beneath the USS Arizona Memorial. Some sailors inside escaped when rescuers drilled holes and opened hatches to rescue them. Unlike most of the other battleships that were recovered following Pearl Harbor, Oklahoma was too damaged to return to duty.

USS Indianapolis Ship Manuals Stamped Received 3-2-1934 Commanding Officer
At this time these manuals were stamped as received the Commanding officer was Capt. I tired to find the location of the U. Indianapolis on the date of the receipt and this is what I learned. On 1 November 1933, she became flagship of. 1, and maneuvered with the force off. She departed on 9 April 1934. I assume this was received in Long Beach while a member of Scouting Force 1.
