Marked on the side above the soldiers’ heads with “2 Anton Reiche Dresden 7″ meaning it was made in 1927, and the letter “P” which may stand for Platinol the nickel-coated sheet metal they were famous for creating. Or maybe the “P” refers to the Prussian soldiers. The mold’s catalogue number 1438 is on the side below the soldiers’ feet. This has been in my family for at least 60 years, but perhaps for longer. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Bayonet Type 30 which was designed to fit the Arisaka Rifle. This particular Bayonet wears a flat bird’s head pommel with a hook crossguard and wrap around grip. It is mounted with a bright blade that measures 15 5/8 inches in length. The blade has survived in superb condition with only some minor surface blemishes and is marked with the Jinsen Arsenal marking on the ricasso. The contour wrap around wooden grips are fastened by rivets and remain in very nice, healthy condition as well. The blued metal scabbard is lightly scuffed but does remain very nice and still wears a leather double loop frog that also remains healthy in its condition. This is a very nice example of a short Japanese Army Officer Sword which dates from the Showa Era and is in Civilian Mount. It is mounted with a well-made arsenal blade that wears a cutting edge of 21 1/2 inches and from tip to tip it measures 29 1/8 inches in length. The blade boasts a lovely straight temper line which extends to the tip on both sides and remains in beautiful original condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The tang wears a Showa stamp and is signed ” Fukumoto KANEMUNE “. It wears gorgeous matching menuki and simple but very nice fuchi kashira that all remain in very nice condition as well. This Dutch Model 34 Helmet was issued in april 1940 to a recruit, just some weeks before the Germans attacked on may 10th 1940. The Netherlands had to go under a cruel regime for 5 years. The M34 helmet is a slight different than the M27. The heraldic Lion sign of the Kingdom of The Netherlands is original and was never taken off. Leather liner and nape cover is of original pattern and black in color. Liner felt pads are original. All in all a wonderful addition to any helmet collection. These helmets were worn by the Danish Forces when the Germans took over their country in april 1940. As the Germans took over Government, not much fighting took place, and the army was dismissed. After that, these helmets were used by civil Defence (‘CF’), resistance and several collaborating parties. This helmet is repainted in grey, and had a repro badge.
