This is a rare and seldom encountered Large Japanese Police High Ranking Officer Sword in Kyu Gunto mount. It wears a very nice, large, Arsenal made blade which wears a cutting edge that measures 27 3/4 inches in length. The blade remains in nice condition with a gorgeous actively wavy temper line, some minor surface blemishes and a few very small nicks to the cutting edge. The tang is signed??? Kanemichi saku” and is dated “Kigen roppyaku ni nen (Year 1943). The large Kyu Gunto hilt also remains very nice with a very healthy, lovely white samé grip covering and the pommel backstrap is adorned with a high relief Police badge emblem. The plated metal scabbard has some flaking and a couple of very minor, tiny dings, nevertheless remains in very nice serviceable condition and fits the blade snuggly. This is an example of a well made Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer’s Sword that due to wear and abuse would make a good candidate for restoration. It is mounted with a gendai blade that wears a cutting edge which measures 26 1/8 inches in length. The blade shows to have been abused and scratched but could be polished in the right hands. The tang wears the signature ” Yoshinaga saku” on one side and a date “Showa juhachinen ju gatsu” that translates to “1943, October” on the other side. All the hilt fittings remain nice and clean with the hilt wrapping in superb condition. The metal scabbard remains in untouched, uncleaned condition and interestingly continues to wear its old canvas combat covering that wears old twine reinforcement which was added at some time. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer’s Sword that is mounted with a nice, Seki arsenal blade. The blade wears a cutting edge that measures 26 5/8 inches in length that features a lovely wavy temper line which extends to the tip on either side and has survived in very nice condition with only some very minor surface blemishes. The tang wears a seki stamp and is dated “Showa junana nen which translates to ” year 1942. The hilt wrapping is a bit tattered but does remain tightly in place and all the fittings also remain very nice and do include a desirable cross-hand sarute as well as a slightly faded but nice brown and blue tassel. The metal scabbard has a couple of small dings, nevertheless also remains in very good serviceable condition and wears beautiful fittings. Overall measuring 40 1/8 inches in length. This is a good example of a Japanese Naval Officer’s Dress Sword which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a lovely machine made blade that measures 25 5/8 inches in length which remains in good original condition with just some minor surface blemishes. The beautiful D-guard is very nicely detailed and frames a healthy samé covered hilt with the original wire wrap still tightly in place and pretty cherry blossoms “sakura” motifs adorn the pommel, the backstrap and the guard face. The leather scabbard wears lovely coordinating fittings, and also remains healthy with minor scuffing and with all of its stitching still tightly intact. Overall measuring 32 3/8 inches in length. This is a very nice example of a Swiss Army Officer Dagger that was manufactured by ELSENER SCHWYZ as well marked on the ricasso. It is mounted with a beautiful blade that measures 8 1/4 inches in length which remains in very good condition with only very minor blemishes. There is also a serial number on the backside of the ricasso. The wooden grip wears plated metal fittings which all remain in very nice condition as well. The metal scabbard wears a black painted finish that also remains nice with light scuffing and a leather metal fitted belt clip. Still present, is the beautiful original red and white portepee and a very pretty cloth insignia mounted upon the hilt. Overall measuring 14 1/2 inches in length. This is a good example of a War-Time Japanese Naval Officer’s Parade Dress Sword. It is mounted with a machine made blade that measures 26 1/2 inches in length which remains in near mint condition. The lovely brass D-guard still wears traces of the original gold finish and frames a samé covered hilt with its original wire wrap still tightly in place. Pretty cherry blossoms “sakura” motifs adorn the pommel, the backstrap and the guard face. The black lacquered leather scabbard wears beautiful fittings with coordinating sakura motifs that also continue to wear traces of their gold wash and although the leather is lightly scuffed, the leather does remain in very healthy condition. This is a good example of a Japanese Officer Sword mounted with an old Wakizashi blade that dates from the Shinto Era and was most likely carried by a Pilot or possibly a Tank Commander during the War. The old blade wears a cutting edge of 18 7/8 inches in length and remains in good condition boasting a beautiful wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side and has only a few minor forging flaws. The tang has three holes and is unsigned. The hilt is nicely fitted with lovely fittings which includes a pair of bow quiver menuki.
