Very Nice Japanese Dress Naval Officer Sword
This is a good example of a Japanese Naval Officer’s Dress Sword which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a lovely machine made blade that measures 25 5/8 inches in length which remains in good original condition with just some minor surface blemishes. The beautiful D-guard is very nicely detailed and frames a healthy samé covered hilt with the original wire wrap still tightly in place and pretty cherry blossoms “sakura” motifs adorn the pommel, the backstrap and the guard face. The leather scabbard wears lovely coordinating fittings, and also remains healthy with minor scuffing and with all of its stitching still tightly intact. Overall measuring 32 3/8 inches in length.
