This vintage 1930s Massachusetts Army National Guard 211th Military Police Syracuse China serving platter is a unique collectible for militaria enthusiasts. Made in the United States, this original piece is perfect for display or serving. The platter features the emblem of the 211th Military Police on the edge, and the units motto Monstrat Viam – “It Points the Way” surrounded by a star in the middle, adding to its historical value. Whether you’re a collector or just appreciate the history of military police, this china platter is a must-have addition to any collection. It’s in great shape and has been well preserved over the years. Add it to your collection today! The platter measures approximately 15.25 inches long x 10.5 inches wide. It is marked OPCO Syracuse China 5-k on the bottom. OPCO stands for Onondaga Pottery Company, and the date code translates to May, 1930. Overall very good condition with strong graphics. Some utensil marks to the center of the platter that I will try to show in the pictures. The line on the back is a mold mark. The plate does have a little wobble to it when sitting on a flat surface. Additional background: The 211th Military Police Battalion (“First Corps of Cadets”[1]) is a unit of the Massachusetts Army National Guard. Its Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment is descended from the First Corps of Cadets, initially formed in 1741. It is one of several National Guard units with colonial roots. Its motto is Monstrat Viam – It Points the Way. While it has served in five wars, the sub-unit’s primary contribution to Massachusetts and to the United States was as an officer-producing institution for new regiments from the Revolutionary War through World War II.
This is from a set the government had discarded that was ostensibly the original artwork for the designing of the crests for the 48 State National Guard units and our associated territories. They are all original watercolors on board and are in varying condition and the time frame they were done was the 1920’s to the 1940’s and the dates are in the corners with the sign off of the relevant officer of the quartermaster general’s office. These are one of a kind design proofs for the State Guard unit crests and are extremely well done and executed. I do not know who this artist is. This design was approved by the Quartermaster’s department in 1924. It is in good condition with minor corner wear. The size is about 8″ x 10″. I focus on happy repeat customers and love what I do and try to ensure all customers are happy. I do not stay glued to my computer and have a real job so please do not expect instantaneous answers. I specialize in paper, photos, coins and militaria. I sell about anything except reproductions. If it is not old, I say so. If there is a defect, I also say so. You can always learn more in this business. If I make a mistake, and we all do, I will take responsibility for it and you can return the item.

ORIGINAL UNITED STATES 1938 DOGS OF WAR NATIONAL MATCH TROPHY MEDAL. In an effort to increase military marksmanship and preparedness in the defense of the Nation, legislation was developed in 1903 to hold national marksmanship matches. This legislation was authorized by Congress in Army General Order #61. The teams representing all branches of the military were competing for the trophy called Dogs of War. The first matches were held at Sea Girt, NJ in 1903, followed by Ft Riley, KS, in 1904. In 1906, Camp Perry, OH, named in honor of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, became the home of the National Matches. Osburn medaled in these events multiple times. Obverse is a depiction of “The Dogs of War” with a man holding dogs on leashes. The proper left has a National Seal medal with tabs below depicting Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and National Guard. The proper right text reads National Trophy Presented by the Congress of the United States for Excellence in Team Marksmanship MDCCCCIV. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you!
