This is a very nice example of a Japanese Army Dress Parade Sword that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a well made, machine made blade that measures 29 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition with its beautiful chemically applied temper line design still clearly present. The wonderfully detailed guard also remains very nice and wears a silver family mon on the backstrap. The carved horn hilt has survived in very healthy condition however, the twisted wire wrap is a bit loose. The nickel plated scabbard is mounted with two carrying rings and remains very nice as well and has no dings. Overall measuring 35 3/8 inches in length. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. Here is a very rare set of dress blues for a USMC private. Both tunic and trousers named to the same Marine, R. Includes a later-issue (“restrike”) Yangtze River Service Medal and an Expert Marksman badge. All original, no alterations. The set does have mothing, so it is not mint. Mothing is concentrated on the read shoulder of the tunic with scattered nips elsewhere, while on the trousers it is in the crotch area witha few elsewhere on the pant legs. The top eye for th ecollar closure is loose but still attached. Colors are still vibrant with no stains or fading. Displays very well, medium size. The exquisite guard wears an intricately detailed backstrap which includes sakura blossoms and remains in superb original condition with all of its gorgeous bright gold wash still present. This is a nicely customized Japanese Army Dress Parade Sword Dagger that dates from the World War II Era. The period customized blade now measures 9 1/2 inches in length and remains in nice condition with only some minor surface blemishes to the plating. The beautifully detailed guard also remains nice and frames a lovely carved horn that is healthy with just a few small chips near the ferrule and pommel nevertheless the twisted wire wrap is still tightly in place. The nickel plated scabbard has some flaking to the plating with light oxidation nevertheless has no dings and remains in nice serviceable condition. Overall measuring 26 3/8 inches in length. This is a used Post WW1 British RAF Canadian RCAF Full Dress Jacket 1924 Pattern Uniform. Features RAF/RCAF buttons, shoulder flash, gold trim collars and gold cuff stripes. - Post WW1 British RAF Canadian RCAF: Full Dress Jacket Uniform
Fully marked tag dates jacket to 12/26/1934 which coincides with his time spent in Quantico, VA. The epaulettes were found with jacket but may have been added at a later date in Groff’s career, since the leather straps are a tad short to fasten to jacket and safety pins were used to hold in place. No pants were found, just the jacket. Condition of jacket is very good with no moth holes, no smell and very clean. The inside collar red fabric has a partial tear and will need to be re-sewn/repaired(see close up photo). Outer gold applied collar will need to be re-sewn in a few areas, as it is loose in spots. John Groff (February 14, 1890 October 2, 1990) was a Brigadier General in the United States Marine Corps whose military career spanned from 1912 to 1946. Groff was a highly decorated veteran of World War I, earning the Navy Cross, Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, and Purple Heart medals. He also participated in the Banana Wars (in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Nicaragua), and World War II. At the time of his death in 1990 at age 100, BG Groff was the oldest surviving general officer in the Marine Corps. This is a very nice example of a rare and seldom encountered Large Variation Japanese Officer’s Sword, Type 19 and would have been in service all the way up to World War II. It is mounted with an impressively large near perfect blade that measures 33 1/2 inches in length by 1 1/8 inches at the widest which remains in very nice original condition. The gilded brass hilt wears a beautifully detailed pommel and pierced work guard and the composite grip is extremely well marked on either side. The guard and composite grip have survived in very nice, tight condition with most of the bright gold finish present and the hilt’s twisted wire wrap still securely in place. The plated scabbard shows flaking from wear and has a couple of dings, neverthelss does remain in very good serviceable condition as well. Overall measuring 40 3/4 inches in length.
