Republic of Latvia – Order of Viesturs (1938 – 1940). Civil Division (without swords). Badge 43 mm x 43 mm, ribbon 32 mm wide. Obverse: VR (Viesturs Rex). Reverse:’Confortamini Et Pugnate 1219. Historical notes (from the official website’Latvijas Valsts Prezidents’). The first Order of Viesturs was awarded on Nov 17,1938; the last – on June 13, 1940. There are 2 divisions: military (with swords) and civilian (without swords) and five classes. During the’lifetime’ of the order 390 class IV were awarded (both military and civilian). Comes from an estate, good condition. See photos for detail; no original box or other insignia; just the order. Reverse enamel is in fair condition (see photo 9 for detail).
