This is an extremely nice example of a Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer’s Sword which dates from the World War II Era and is mounted with a blade by Kanenaga who was known for his fine, well made stainless steel blades. This lovely blade wears a cutting edge that measures 25 1/2 inches in length. The blade has survived in beautiful original condition with only some very minor surface scratches and a couple of very tiny nicks along the cutting edge. The tang is signed with a signature that translates to Fujiwara Kanenaga Motte? Seitan saku kore and on the other side? Tasugi Shinichi (most likely the name for whom it was made). Kanenaga is also known as the originator of stainless steel blades. The beautiful nice quality Military fittings all remain in very nice, clean condition as well. The LIGHTWEIGHT textured wooden scabbard also remains near perfect in its condition with just a couple of very tiny chips to the finish. Overall measuring 39 inches in length. RUSSIAN WHITE ARMY “ROVS” IN PRAGUE SILVER CIGARETTE CASE 1930 RARE! This is a presentation cigarette box with the “ROVS” or Russian All-Military Union insignia. ROVS was founded in 1924 by the Chief of White Russian Army abroad Peter Wrangel. The cigarette box has a badge of ROVS in Czechoslovakia founded by general Kutepov in 1929. The silver cigarette box of 0900 silver measures 75 x 95 mm. The weight is 102,18 g. Besides the ROVS badge it has got “BA” initials on top. Presentation inscription inside says: “Vanoce 1930″, “Happy New Year Prague” in Russian. All hinges work perfect. This is a very rare White Russian Army piece! This is an outstanding example of a War-Time Historically Recorded Battlefield Pick-Up World War II Japanese Army Officer Sword mounted with an ancestral blade. The old antique Wakizashi blade wears a cutting edge of 20 3/8 inches in length. The blade does wear a visibly wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side however reflects cleanings from recent years and has a couple of nicks to the cutting edge, otherwise does remain in good condition. The tang wears one hole and is signed “Bishu Ju San Shiro”. The Sword wears Army Shin Gunto Regulation Mounts which all remain in very nice however there is a small glued repair to the wrapping. The Regulation scabbard remains very nice in its condition and is wonderfully hand painted with the recording of one of the hill battles of Iwo Jima along with the date March 26, 1945 and the name of the GI that brought it home. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Army Officer Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a beautiful hand-forged blade that wears a cutting edge which measures 27 inches in length. The blade remains in very nice original condition with a lovely actively wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The tang wears two holes and is unsigned however, there are a couple of light hand scratched characters that were added in recent years that could easily be removed. All the fittings have also survived in very nice, clean condition. The metal scabbard also remains in very nice condition. Overall measuring 40 1/2 inches in length. Rare and seldom encountered to find in any condition, this is a very nice example of a LIGHTWEIGHT Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a beautiful machine made blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 30 3/8 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The Shin Gunto style hilt has some light staining nevertheless remains tight and sturdy. This is an extremely nice example of a Japanese Army NCO Sword, Type 32 that is wearing matching numbers. It is mounted with a well made machine made blade that measures 30 5/8 inches in length which remains in superb original condition. The Sword wears a metal D-guard with a checkered wooden grip that has survived in excellent condition as well and is dated “Taisho 1.2″ which translates to “February 1912″. The MATCHING metal scabbard has minor scuffs as well as a ding and a minor rust spot on the edge of the drag, nevertheless remains in very good serviceable condition and continues to wear all of its beautiful blued finish. As World War II was coming to a close, the need of Swords for the Japanese Army still existed however, due to the lack of time as well as materials, swords increasingly became more crudely made in the attempt to meet the urgent need. This particular Sword is a very Late War “Last Ditch Effort” and is a very nice and rare example from this period as evidenced by the very simple wood and iron fittings. It is mounted with an arsenal War-Time blade that measures 26 1/8 inches in length which has survived in very nice condition with only some minor surface staining. The tang is signed with two characters that translates to ” TAKA MASA ” as well as is dated “Sho Wa Ju Hachi Nen Ni Gastu” which translates to “February 1943″. The hilt is wooden with a simple carved checkered design to resemble the Officer’s pattern. It is mounted with an equally simple brass tsuba and wooden scabbard that also features simple iron fittings, all remaining exceptionally nice in their condition. Overall measuring 38 7/8 inches in length. Truly a very nice, rare example for any advanced collector.
