Very Nice Japanese Army Officer Shin Gunto Stainless Steel Sword
This is an extremely nice example of a Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer’s Sword which dates from the World War II Era and is mounted with a blade by Kanenaga who was known for his fine, well made stainless steel blades. This lovely blade wears a cutting edge that measures 25 1/2 inches in length. The blade has survived in beautiful original condition with only some very minor surface scratches and a couple of very tiny nicks along the cutting edge. The tang is signed with a signature that translates to Fujiwara Kanenaga Motte? Seitan saku kore and on the other side? Tasugi Shinichi (most likely the name for whom it was made). Kanenaga is also known as the originator of stainless steel blades. The beautiful nice quality Military fittings all remain in very nice, clean condition as well. The LIGHTWEIGHT textured wooden scabbard also remains near perfect in its condition with just a couple of very tiny chips to the finish. Overall measuring 39 inches in length.
