Here is an amazing piece of US Military history. It is a photo album from the USS Milwaukee on its likely shakedown tour of 1923-24. Class light cruiser built for the United States Navy during the 1920s. People and women photos, photos of the crew and shipboard activities, and 16 b/w printed photos of Honolulu. I saved the best for last. There are 48 b/w snapshot photographs from Honduras. There were about 7 different coups in Honduras in the early 1920s. There was a lot of fighting and many were left dead in the streets. In an effort to put an end to the fighting, the government of United States sent Sumner Welles to the port of Amapala. Welles had instructions to produce a satisfactory agreement according to the treaty of 1923, and convey power to somebody that could be recognized legally. The negotiations, once again held on board the. Lasted from 23 to 28 April. Included in these photos are rebels, soldiers, buildings, dead bodies in the street, and more. Amazing to say the least! This album also has about 105 real photo postcards. 24 cards are views of San Francisco including China Town and beach scenes. Then there are 22 cards from Greenland. Including 7-10 of USS Milwaukee aircraft on the island. There is a 5 x 7 b/w image titled Fleet Illumination at San Francisco. There are also a few additional printed postcards. The diameter without crown is about 57mm, the visible dial diameter is 49mm. Extremely rare naval aviator wing, owned by John F. Clymer, came with other material from him from an estate clearance about a year ago. Absolutely stunning Robbins pattern wing with straight drop safety catch, and a stop that does not allow the pin to flip all the way back, but only to about 45 degrees. Nearly all the original finish remains. The feather detail is amazing, with clean sharp definition. This is the nicest post WWI wing I have ever had, the ID is solid, I had other things from this officer, born in 1905, listed in the rolls as having joined in 1927. I did not find out much more about him, but the early date matches up well with this pattern of wing badge. 2.75 wide, plus a mm or so. This is the nicest wing of this period you will ever own! 1 928 engraved US Navy Good Conduct Medal to Baker 2nd Class Clyde Emanuel Saylor USS Mississippi. Saylor went on to serve in WWII as a Chief Commissary Steward aboard the attack transport USS Mercury AK-20. The plane’s torpedo. Living compartments on the port boat deck and continued on, breaking in two without detonating. The only casualty was Chief Saylor who was killed instantly.
