This is a two volume German language set of books published in 1936 in the Third Reich of Nazi Germany. It was a little known goal of the Third Reich to reclaim the former German colonies lost due to the Treaty of Versailles after World War I. These colonies included Togo, Cameroon, German Southwest Africa and German East Africa, along with islands in the south Pacific. Beautifully photographed in black and white, there are many depictions of everyday colonial life during the Wilhelmine period when Germany had territorial ambitions in Africa and Asia. Volume 1 is 274 pages in length, Volume 2 is 263 pages. 11″ x 9″ x 1.5. Both are in very good, almost mint condition. Both feature red leather on the cover of the spines as well as the corners of the covers. As per photos, there are swastikas on the covers. I in no way promote the ideas and goals of the Third Reich. These books are being offered as unique insights into Colonial Germany; a subject matter this is interesting but little studied. Excellent early Droop Tail Luftwaffe Eagle pole top or auto insignia. Eagle is made of a heavy alloy and is attacked to a brass third Reich emblem. Has mounting and attaching bolt. For sale is a so-called deck chronometer of the Kriegsmarine WW2. Watches of this type were used on submarines and warships. The diameter without crown is about 57mm, the visible dial diameter is 49mm. Only 1500 pieces of this model were produced, of course some of these watches did not survive the war or went down with their ships. The number of watches still existing today is probably much smaller. What makes this timepiece extremly rare are the original 3. The watch for sale is in a very good condition, with a beautiful patina. The movement is the IWC Cal. The case numbers are identical on both lids. Even after such a long time the watch still runs perfectly. The hands, case, movement and dial are original. The movement is absolutely flawless and practically as good as new.
