1935-1938 Imperial Japanese Army Seki Katana Okada Kaneyoshi pre-WWII Type-94
Please have a close look at all the pictures. For sale is a late 1930’s katana, in decent overall shape. Using the Nihonto forum and consulting the experts there, we have identified the signature as Okada Kaneyoshi, an excellently made sword from before the war. The signature is “Noshu Seki ju Okada Kaneyoshi saku kore”. Everything pictured is present, and it could use a restoration. There are a few tiny dings on the blade edge, nothing serious. The tip is slightly chipped (see pictures). The saya fits snuggly on the blade, but does not lock. There is a small silver mon, that I was told is the “9 stars crest” (Kuyu mon). There is a crack on the samegawa (below the wrap on the handle) which is visible in pictures. The length from tip to tip (without the saya) is approximately 39 inches.
