A Very Unique Mannlicher Carbine Model 95 NCO Bayonet. The NCO Bayonet has the ring hole in the steel handle – much rarer Bayonet Type – see pictures # 5 and #6. This is a rare and very desirable marked M95 Manlicher Bayonet Set from my personal collection. The blade has the CEWG code on the Blade – Picture # 1 – on the other side is the Double Headed Imperial Eagle – picture # 4 – Scabbard has Imperial Double headed Eagle on the Metal tad and CEWG Code. This Bayonet is a very desirable and hard to find Historic Collectable- , but with the unusual marks – it puts it in a class by itself – it is much more desirable. IT IS MATCHING BY CODE CEWG AND DOUBLE HEADED EAGLE. Faint eagle marking on bayonet frog and CEWG ON Blade. Research could really pay off on this Bayonet Set. Please see pictures to judge this Bayonet. For a Bayonet that is probably 100 year old – it would be hard to find a nicer one. Would make a Great Display item for a collector. These bayonets and scabbards were re-conditoned prior to WWII for the German and Austrian Armies using M95 Mannlicher Carbines as substitute Standard. The metal frog hook on the metal scabbards were re-inforced. By brass brazing at the arsenal and then simply painted over the braze with black paint – usually after all their use some of the brass is showing – I prefer to leave orginal, but it would be easy for owners to spot paint again. The Rifles and Bayonets were substitute standard for German Army support troops during WWII and also issued to German Military Police. Note: The blade has not been sharpened since leaving the Gov’t Arsenal. Bayonet buttons for attaching to rifles are always checked and work fine! It is a fact that when necessary the Czech’s supplied the Belgians with weapons to help complete orders, even though they were in direct competition for the same contracts. This further complicates the identification of users etc. As it may be that Czech blades will turn up that were used by countries that were not supplied with Czech weapons officially. 1920-30’s Airship Pilot’s wing marked Sterling, full size, pin back, no maker’s mark. This is the traditional design authorized by regulation and a copy of the design authorized by the Government when they created the “From Official Die” concept in the mid 20’s.
