USMC Marine NAMED Competitive Shooting Medal Badge Pin IDed Elliot Trophy Team
This one is from my personal collection. I use to heavily collect marksmanship related items, but have decided the thin the herd and refine the focus lately. Group includes the named Good Conduct Medal, Divisional Match Badge, and Marine Corps Match badge. The Good Conduct is officially engraved, however the shooting badges are now. Fortunately, the Marine hand-etched his initials on the rear of both, and’DWC’ can be seen. According to the Muster Rolls, this Marine was a trumpeter in the band who served at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Parris Island. He metaled at Quantico in 1926 with the Elliot Trophy Team, however their team did not win the cup. I have attached an image of the entry in the June 1926 Muster Rolls. These early badges don’t appear often, and it’s even tougher to find attributed badges that weren’t engraved. Nice little research project… I can’t imagine many bandsmen were metaled in the matches! Offered is a very rare piece of Marine Corps headgear that is missing from most collections. This is a overseas / theater made USMC officer’s “piss cutter” garrison cover / hat. Distinctly Marine with the scarlet and gold metal bullion wire trim and sand cast French made EGA. I wish this one could talk. No doubt worn by a member of the first AEF group of the 4th Brigade5th and 6th Marines and 6th MG Bn. These were made in France and Germany on leave from the front, and on occupation duty through 1919. Beautiful high quality construction as would be typical for an officer. Paper and plaque for display only and NOT included. The item “WW1 USMC AEF Marine Officer’s Overseas Cap with French Made EGA” is in sale since Thursday, September 07, 2017. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Militaria\WW I (1914-18)\Original Period Items\United States\Hats & Helmets”. The seller is “texasaggiegirl00″ and is located in Nevada City, California. Two albums brought home by a USMC veteran of old China and the Philippines, having served in Peking, Tientsin, Shanghai and Cavite. Has a wonderful painted front cover with Marine’s name painted to the front right “Smead C Posey”, US and Marine Corps flags, crossed rifles and a Carabao/water buffalo skull. Worn but visible is Cavite P. I under the flags. 178 total original photos of sites and scenes around Shanghai, Cavite and Tientsin. Some photos are missing and onion skin divider pages are cracked brittle or coming loose. Multiple photos that depict the Boeing or China Clipper, Chinese scenes, Philippine girlfriends, on the beach, on the range, Cavite barracks and buildings, some colorized photos, Cavite USMC basketball team, a group photo, the salt beds, and Enlisted Club at Tientsin. Second album is a scrap book, someone has scratched out the “S”, kinda funny… It has about 12 pages of photos, receipts, signatures, chits, a couple of bulletins, postcards and comes with over 50 loose scrap or cutouts from Magazines and newspaper, subject mainly military, poems, and scenes of Philippines and China. A great and rare chance at a unique piece of USMC and China Marine history. Measures 15″ x 11″ long. Books go media rate. Please contact me if not satisfied before leaving feedback, give me a chance to fix the problem please. ORIGINAL UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS SECOND NICARAGUAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, W/ LOCKING CATCH FULL WRAP BROOCH, & 1/2 HILBORN HAMBURGER VIKING KWIKSET RIBBON BAR. RIBBON DRAPE TESTED UV NEGATIVE AS SHOWN IN PHOTO #12. The Second Nicaraguan Campaign Medal is a campaign medal of the United States Navy & Marine Corps which was authorized by an act of the United States Congress on 8 November 1929. The Second Nicaraguan Campaign Medal was awarded for service during operations in Nicaragua from 1926 to 1933. An earlier campaign medal, the Nicaraguan Campaign Medal, was awarded for service in Nicaragua 1912. The Second Nicaraguan Campaign Medal was considered a separate award from the first version of the medal and Navy regulations permitted the receipt and wear of both decorations, if so authorized. Southerland, who had been in overall command of both Nicaraguan campaigns, was the first recipient of both versions of the Nicaraguan Campaign Medal. The Second Nicaraguan Campaign Medal appeared as a medal suspended from a red ribbon with several white stripes. The medal displayed a woman (representing Columbia), armed with a sword, defending two other figures with a cloak. The medal bore the words Second Nicaraguan Campaign with the dates 1926 1930 displayed on the medals edges (although the medal was authorized until 1933). No devices were authorized. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you! The item “M. No. 3019 U. S. MARINE CORPS SECOND NICARAGUAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL US MINT NUMBERED” is in sale since Sunday, March 26, 2017.
