USMC Marine NAMED Competitive Shooting Medal Badge Pin Group IDed WWI WWII
This one is from my personal collection. I use to heavily collect marksmanship related items, but have decided the thin the herd and refine the focus lately. Group includes the named Good Conduct Medal, Divisional Match Badge, and Marine Corps Match badge. The Good Conduct is officially engraved, however the shooting badges are now. Fortunately, the Marine hand-etched his initials on the rear of both, and’DWC’ can be seen. According to the Muster Rolls, this Marine was a trumpeter in the band who served at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Quantico, and I believe he metaled at Quantico in 1925. These early badges don’t appear often, and it’s even tougher to find attributed badges that weren’t engraved. Nice little research project… I can’t imagine many bandsmen were metaled in the matches! Please see my other listings for more militaria. Add a map to your own listings. General Service Medal (Silver) 833 CONST. Defense Medal (Silver Issue) Unnamed. War Medal 19391945 (Silver Issue) Unnamed. As such, it could be legitimate or it could be a self-award. In any case, they are just like I bought them. The circumstances surrounding Thompsons Kings Police Medal for Gallantry. At midnight on July 28, 1936, a small patrol of Palestine Police officers were fired upon by a group of Palestinians near the Nablus hills. The ensuing battle would last all day and only ended after British troops with tanks and airplanes made a counter attack. According to contemporary newspaper reports this skirmish was [t]he severest battle since the beginning of the Arab general strike against Jewish immigration 101 days ago. At least 20 Palestinians and one constable, named Christopher Wren, were killed during this clash. British Constable Horace William Henry Thompson was one of three Palestine Police officers recognized for his courageous conduct during this engagement. The others were Sergeant Hamish Ian McLeod and Constable David Farrar. According to the Palestine Police Old Comrades Association newsletter No. 118, March 1980 p 44-47 there were 65 KPMs awarded to the Palestine Police, and only 29 were for gallantry. As such, this medal is especially rare. If this items ships via. The item “King’s Police Medal Group to British Police Constable in Palestine Police 1936″ is in sale since Friday, July 21, 2017. Rare Us Navy Pre Ww2 Formal Uniform Group Pearl Harbor Submarines
This is a rare US Navy grouping for a man who was stationed on the USS NARWHAL at Pearl Harbor on Dec. See pictures 10 and 11. The group consists of his frock coat, evening dress coat, trousers with braid, and his Midshipman tunic. All are in very nice condition with only one button missing from the tunic. The fore and aft hat, epaulettes, and gold belt are in a tin box with his initials painted on top. All are in excellent condition except for the box. It is dented with paint missing and the lock is off but included. The sword is in fine condition with the scabbard showing only very minor flaking. The leather case is in good condition but is missing part of the strap to buckle it closed and some mild mothing to the liner. Scabbard is engraved with his initials and the leather case also has his initials. Interestingly his last name is misspelled on the blade, an “A” is missing. Also included is his 1931 Academy yearbook, silver anniversary yearbook, and thirty first anniversary yearbook. The papers that are included are all copies except his retirement paper. Also included is a second sword belt, a medal and a comb with missing teeth in a leather pouch which also has a rusting file. I think this is the highlight of the whole group. The USS Narwhal is credited with shooting down a Japanese Zero (along with a destroyer) which is the first submarine kill of the war. This group is from the officer who claims he shot it down. This is a rare Pearl Harbor AND submarine related group. I just noticed that in the picture of the yearbooks there is a small book titled The Silver Quiver, it does not go with this group. The crate has been in my attic for over 25 years and is under a large pile of stuff. No sense in digging it out until or if the group sells. The price listed may be lower if you live on the East Coast. It will take me a few days to dig out the crate and pack everything safely so please be patient. If you live in the area you can pick it up. The item “RARE US NAVY PRE WW2 FORMAL UNIFORM GROUP PEARL HARBOR SUBMARINES” is in sale since Monday, July 17, 2017. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Militaria\1919-38\Original Period Items”. The seller is “maitland283″ and is located in Cape May, New Jersey. This item can be shipped to United States.
