Post-WWI USMC Marine H&H P26 EGA Pin of General WPT Hill D. Snyder Collection
This is an officer P-26’Droop Winged Goonie Bird’ collar EGA that belonged to General William P. In 1920, he served as a geologist surveying the Alaskan coal fields as a member of the Naval Alaskan Coal Commission. He was later assigned to the American Legation in Peking, China. During this tour, he participated in Dr Roy Chapman Andrews’ third expedition to the Gobi Desert in Mongolia as a topographer. He later served in Haiti, served as a liaison officer during the construction of Camp Lejeune, and served as the Marine Corps Quartermaster General. Hill award-established in 1985-is presented by the Marine Corps annually to the best mess hall in the institution. Photos are for reference and not included.
