The blade has not been sharpened and retains it’s original tip. The threads on the tang and clean and are not stripped. Truly, it is remarkable to find a spare on the open market. This is a wonderful example of a World War II Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer Sword mounted with an ancestral blade. The blade wears a cutting edge that measures 26 9/16 inches in length and remains very nice in its condition with just some minor surface blemishes and a few very tiny nicks to the cutting edge, nevertheless continues to wear a beautiful polish and boasts a gorgeous actively wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The blade also features a lovely horimono on either side. The tang wears two holes and is signed “Bizen No Kuni Osafune Sukesada Saku”. This Sword wears high quality Army Shin Gunto Regulation Mounts that also remain very nice condition in their condition as well as is accentuated with a pretty silver family Mon upon one of the menuki. The Regulation scabbard has also survived well with just some light scuffing to the beautiful lacquer finish however has no dings. Overall, the Sword measures 38 3/4 inches in length. A used British 1897 Pattern Infantry Officers Sword George 5th NO SCABBARD. This sword has King George V and the Kings crown eteched onto the blade, as well as designed into the guard, so this sword dates from 1910 to 1936. The length of the blade is 33 inches. Handle grip is made of shark skin and is in excelent condition. There are some very minor dings in the edge of the blade, but besides that it is in excellent condition. There are no visible maker marks and thie sword is not regimentally marked at all. Overall in excellent conditon and a very nice piece. GST of 5% is applicable on all sales within Canada. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Naval Officer’s Dress Sword that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a beautiful machine made blade that measures 25 3/4 inches in length. The plated blade although remains in good condition, has flaking to the plating on either side. The D-guard is beautifully detailed with pretty cherry blossoms “sakura” motifs that adorn the pommel, the backstrap and the guard face and frame a lovely white samé covered hilt with the original twisted wire wrap still securely in place. The wonderful shagreen covered scabbard has survived beautifully and in very healthy condition. All the lovely fittings continue to wear much of their original gold wash, and although the base fitting has a small ding on one side, they do remain very nice in their condition as well.
