1923 USS Argonne Menu Christmas Dinner Manila Philippines CP Snyder Crew Navy. It’s not in mint condition but really good for a hundred year old item.
Pattern 1892 enlisted cover emblem. This particular variant was produced by the firm of NS Meyers, and the Meyers shield can be seen stamped in the rear left wing. On the right wing is marked’ACID TEST’. While I’m not familiar with that the test itself entailed, this mark can be seen on insignias of the late 20s-30s. Beautiful and scarcely see variant. I will be listing several pieces from Mr. Snyder’s collection in the coming days/weeks. Gorgeous and very rare, possibly one-of-a-kind emblem. What you see here is a theater-made officer cover EGA based off the enlisted P-1908. The rope was removed presumably by grinding or filing, and then the emblem was sand cast. After casting, the wire rope was added and the eagle’s head wear twisted in the opposite direction. I believe this to be German-made rather than French, based on German-made sand-casted collar emblems I have seen over the years. I will be listing several pieces from Mr. Snyder’s collection in the coming days/weeks. The item “WWI USMC Marine Officer EGA German Theater Made Pin Badge D. Pair of P1920 enlisted dress collar EGAs marked’Made In England’. This is one of the earliest patterns of large production officer emblems, with the pattern being introduced around 1912 and worn through the 1930s. This particular emblem is most likely 1920s-30s, as it sports a c-clasp and machine etched fret work. This pattern is often associated with the firm of Gems on, however this particular model is unmarked. Worn on the collar of the officer dress blues, as well as the shoulder epaulettes of the mess dress uniform. I will be listed several pieces from Mr. Snyder’s collection in the coming days/weeks. Marked with the Meyers shield. One emblem is also marked’Meyers Metal’ and the other’ACID TEST’. These were popular alternatives the the issued P1926 drooped winged EGAs which Marines felt looked more like goonie birds than eagles. These emblems were featured in T. Klie’s above mentioned reference book. I will be listed several pieces from Mr. Snyder’s collection in the coming days/weeks. The item “Post-WWI USMC Marines NS Meyers Acid Test EGA Collar Pins D.
