Double row; the over-cut part is made with a full front, buttoned with sleeves / four buttons on the right side of the front and on the right shoulder with two globe buttons of black stained birch. The lowered part is buttoned with three buttons / buttonholes on the windshield on the left side of the front. The sleeves have a knitted fabric knit at the inside of the wrist. The folded part has a knitted pocket with a lid with two buttons. The waistband of the jacket has a waistband with closure device which at the front consists on the right side two hooks and the left side two half-round rings. In each side two rows of four eyelets / leather straps. Stand Collar; left part designed as a slit with a hook, Right part with a strap made of cotton and a square ring for the closure of the collar and a pouring of leather. This M38 Field Jacket is a 1930s original and was issued to my uncle by the military while he was at Camp Kilmer. The jacket has been kept in a cedar closet for the last many many years and is in excellent conditions. These jackets were issued to the US Army troops between 1938 and 1941 when they were replaced by the M41 which had no flaps over the side pockets but was otherwise the same as the M38.
