The Legation Guard News Annual, 1931. Volume 1, Number 5. Printed in Peking, China : The Standard Press, 1931? USMC, Editor -in- Chief. Measures about 11&1/2″ by 8&1/2″ , Pages numbered to 85, plus advertising. Basically a yearbook of the tour and activities and history. Many black & white photos. Has a puncture through the entire book but, with no loss of text, as the pages have been pressed down over the years. The cloth binding is very worn and a bit faded and is coming apart and there are some loose pages but it is complete. There is also toning to the pages… A rare addition to your collection. This is an original full size medal, not a reproduction. A 1937 American Battle of Soochow Creek (China) Bravery and Valor Medal. Medal in stamped bronze, 36mm, extremely fine. Created by members of the United States Fourth Marines as an ironic comment on the nature of their service as part of the Shanghai Defence Force, which protected the foreign concessions during other fighting in the area. Rare Opportunity to own a pair of Original WWI press photos of Medal of Honor Recipient, and 14th Commandant (also shortest serving commandant) of the Marine Corps, Wendell C. These photos are date stamped 1918 and 1919, and were both used as press photos for an unknown publication during the great war. They are both credited to “Bain News Service” of New York City. There is some wear to both photos as shown. They are printed with period correct silver gelatin, and are guaranteed to be as advertised. They each measure just under 7″ by 5″. HERE IS A SUPER RARE NUMBERED M. NO 1069, US MARINE CORP ORIGINAL ISSUED YANGTZE SERVICE MEDAL There where very few of these awarded to Marines. It has the old clasp and ribbon and did not glow. Medal is in good shape for almost a 100 years old. Please look over and ask questions as we know this is a rare and valuable piece for any collector to have. Some folks just don’t appreciate history and preserving it for us collectors. With what little research I could do, all I could find was one m. 1052 was issued to a marine corp Colonel on who served on the USS HENDERSON AIRCRAFT SQUADRON in 1927. A list of the marines in the squadron would most likely help getting closer to the Marines name. Some more digging should come up with him. Expeditionary Detachment, Aircraft Squadrons, Third Brigade United States Marines, who were on board the USS Henderson at Shanghai, China, from 23 June 1927 to 27 June 1927.
