Very good condition and guaranteed original pre WWII Russian Model 1927 cavalry Shashka sword. Nicely unit marked on the blade and dated 1932. 31 ¾ blade has beautiful original bright finish and has been sharpened. Still has original leather washer at the base. Brass fittings have attractive patina. Dated 1932 on the lower fitting, pommel has beautiful hammer and sickle markings. Fitted in correct original leather covered scabbard that has steel fittings. All fittings are present including the sots for holding a Mosin Nagant socket bayonet. A hard to find WWII Russian cavalry saber that will make an impressive addition to your collection. This is a very nice example of a LATE War-Time Japanese Naval Officer’s Kai Gunto Sword. As World War II was coming to a close, the need of Swords for the Japanese Army still existed however, due to the lack of time as well as the shortage of materials, swords increasingly became more crudely assembled in the attempt to meet the urgent need. This particular Naval Officer’s Sword is mounted with a lovely Arsenal stainless steel blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 24 3/8 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition. The tang is hand painted with an assemble number which does MATCH all the other parts. The hurriedly finished tang has a tell tell notch at the habaki reflecting the urgency in the assembly of this Sword. The hilt and all the fittings do remain in wonderful original condition. The wooden scabbard wears a beautiful black samé covering as well as very nicely detailed fittings, all having survived beautifully in their condition. Overall measuring 36 7/8 inches in length. This is a very nice example of a rare and desirable custom RANDALL Fighting Knife which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a blade that measures 7 7/8 inches in length. The blade reflects good honest wear with crude sharpening scratches that could easily be removed in the right hand if desired. The markings RANDALL MADE Spfld. Do however remain very nice and clear. The leather ringed hilt also shows that it has been well used but does remain healthy in its condition as well. This Knife is wearing a Mosser type scabbard that remains in excellent condition with all the stitching still tightly intact. The sharpening stone is long gone. ORIGINAL RARE PRE WWII 1930s MARINE AVIATOR PHOTO ALBUM FROM WWII USMC FIGHTER ACE. Bought from veterans estate. This USMC officer was commissioned and completed flight training in 1936. Served as XO of VMF-111 in Samoa, CO of the famous VMF-121 flying off Guadalcanal. Flying F4Fs he shot down 6 Zeros in 2 days in December 1942 earning him a Silver Star. Lt Col in 1943 and commanded MAG-51 and then MGVG-4 flying F4Us off the USS Cape Gloucester. 2 victories over a Judy and Francis in 1945 brought his tally to 8. During the Korean War he was deputy CO of Marine Air Group 21 and again flying combat earned a second Silver Star. Retired in 1959 as a Brig General. This lot consists of his pre WWII photo album. Amazing album from the mid 1930s, a rare look into between the wars Naval / Marine Corps Aviation. 307 photos, many, many aircraft, crashes, cadets, class photos. Some leave photos / girlfriends but the vast majority are great aviation shots. Very well done and captioned. #30 POLAND POLISH WWII POLISH AIR FORCE ORDER OF THE VIRTUTI MILITARI, #9198, 5th class, Silver gilt worn, superb enamels. Jozef Zawadzki who was attached to the 304th Slask Bomber Squadron as a Pilot observer during the Battle of Britain. Very rare 2nd type VM. A small number of these 5th class VMs were left over from 1921 production run and awarded until the supply ran out with the last number being 9,999. After that, VMs were never machine stamped with numbers. New supply of VMs were ordered from Spinks, Rubin in Palestine, in Italy and Polish Tech jewelers in London. Mounted on a old original Swiss made ribbon. New replacement ribbon will be supplied. Very rare VM award for Polish Air Force members. It is one of 1,500 crosses awarded during WWII which were made in the 1920’s. Superb example of Polish Military History during WWII. It maybe of some interest to those who are not familiar with Polish History to know that thousands of VM recipients from the WWI era also fought in the 1939 campaign. The where killed on the battlefield in full uniform or captured. In once place at one time at Katyn, 22,000 thousand Polish officers and NCOs were shot by the Soviets.
