WW 2 Explosion Proof Clock Circa 1938 USA-JAAP Crouse-Hinds CO. Blueprint
Very rare WW 2 explosion proof clock. Removed from the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant in Elwood, IL during demolition in 1998. Built circa 1938 and opened in 1940. Over 50000 acre facility. Clock measures 17.5″ in diameter X 7″ deep overall. The clock ring with glass face is a 4″ projection and mechanical housing off the back of the clock has a 3″ projection. The glass face has a 13 diameter. 110 V 3 Watts 60 cycles. Also included in the sale is a 44 page mechanical blueprint of Joliet Army Arsenal Plant. Two ironic notes This is a JAAP ClocK but US made In the movie The Blues Brothers Jake was being released out of Joliet State Prison and Elwood was picking up Jake. Well Elwood was the name of the town were the entrance for JAAP was. The clock is in excellent condition runs very well and is super quiet.
