AUTHENTIC KINGDOM OF YUGOSLAVIA. M1924 ARTILLERY NCO DAGGER. One of the rarest daggers in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia army arsenal. The dagger was designed and used only by the non commisioned officers of the artillery units from 1924 till 1941. The Yugoslav army had a small artillery force with only about 200 NCO’s on active duty. Hence the small production and rarity of this dagger. According to sources, only about 600 pieces were ever produced. The dagger was manufactured locally, by the Vojno Tehnicki Zavod (war technology institute) in the city of Kragujevac. The grip is from wallnut wood. The guard is brass with serial number “7683” on one side and the letter “C” on the other. The steel blade has one fuller on one side and it is marked “BT3″ in cyrilics, wich is a VTZ – vojno tehnicki zavod – war technology institute. The scabbard is black painted metal. A Classic Sudanese Kaskara at an affordable price. Steel, Leather and textile, circa 1930. This classic design was reputed to be based on medieval European designs and some were said to have old European blades. Many were brought to the UK after the battle of Omdurman. This piece dates from the 1930’s. I go it with a chest of French Marine Coloniale items from the 1930’s and 40’s, but no associated name. I have not done any restoration, just oiled the blade. The latter had patches of corrosion, but would clean up nicely. Thse scabbard has some splitting along the entire length were the cord pulling the leather sections of the scabbard together is coming away. Classic flared’tail’ to end of scabbard, steerl cross guard with languets, leather pommel to hilt. The item “CLASSIC SWORD SUDANESE KASKARA Circa 1930 Classic Similar Medieval European” is in sale since Saturday, October 19, 2019. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Knives, Swords & Blades\Swords & Sabers\European & Mediterranean\Medieval”. The seller is “redfell44″ and is located in Hove.
