The dagger and scabbard are in excellent condition. Scabbard has started to discolor mainly from the users gripping the scabbard to hold it while taking it out of the sheath, mainly from the oil in our skin over the years. Blade is in almost perfect condition and still has a mirror-like finish. Blade inscribed with “Everything for Germany” (in German of course). On the back side of the handle, “Wm” is stamped on the nickel finish. The blade has the maker’s mark of GEBR. GRAFRATH SOLINGEN at the top. It is a known, but rarer maker of these daggers. Total length with scabbard = 14.75. Dagger length = 13.50. Blade length = 8.75. Of course, we had to block out part of the inlay on the badge, but it is in perfect condition as well. It belonged to Ernest Washington Lamons. Blade has the officer’s name on one side and a spread winged Eagle on the other. I was told he graduated the Naval academy in the mid 1920’s. Original vet acquired German WWII Chained Dagger Parts including scabbard and blade. Text book example of a late war chained dagger parts, showing age, wear and some corrosion as seen in pictures. Scabbard is a later style “Type II” with nickel plated fittings and anodized body with a center mount having a more of a “rolled” or “rounded look” to the border edges as seen and described by Thomas Wittmann on page 141 of his book Collecting the Dress Daggers and Sword of the German… Blade is the original unmarked type which is always found on chained daggers. Blade shows heavy age and wear, but still having a perfect tip and threading is excellent. Extremely rare and very hard to find original chained dagger parts!! Don’t miss out on this one!!!
