This is a nice U. Marines Corps Regulation Sword which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a beautiful blade that measures 29 3/8 inches in length which remains in nice condition with lovely etching on either side as well as is engraved with the name of the original owner on one side. The gilded brass guard is simple in design and remains in good condition with just some wear to the gold finish and frames nice composite grips that have now richly mellowed with age and remain tightly in place. The metal scabbard wears nicely detailed brass fittings and although now has some light oxidation to the plating, does remain in good serviceable condition with no dings. This is a nice example of a Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a hand-forged blade which wears a cutting edge that measures 26 3/4 inches in length. The blade remains healthy with some minor surface blemishes and a few tiny nicks to the cutting edge, nevertheless is in nice condition and boasts a lovely large straight temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The well signed tang wears two characters which translate to ” MASAYASU “. The hilt and all the fittings remain nice. The green lacquered scabbard remains nice as well with just some minor scuffs. This USMC officer sword was made by the Lilley-Ames Co. Columbus OH and Retailed by The C. New London OH about 1938. I can date it because it has the phenolic grip and slotted head screws. Before WWII USMC swords were only assembled in the USA. The blade of the very good condition sword is twenty-eight inches long. Look at the pictures and ask your questions. This is a very nice example of a Japanese D-Guard Army Officer’s Kyu Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a well made grooved, machine made blade that measures 26 5/8 inches in length. The blade remains in very nice original condition with just some minor surface blemishes. The fabulous large D-guard is beautifully detailed and although has one very small stress crack to one edge, does remain tight and sturdy as well as is wonderfully enhanced with a silver family mon on the backstrap. The pretty white rayskin covered hilt remains very healthy and continues to wear its original twisted wire wrap securely in place. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer’s Sword that is mounted with a nice, Seki arsenal blade. The blade wears a cutting edge that measures 26 5/8 inches in length that features a lovely wavy temper line which extends to the tip on either side and has survived in very nice condition with only some very minor surface blemishes. The tang wears a seki stamp and is dated “Showa junana nen which translates to ” year 1942. The hilt wrapping is a bit tattered but does remain tightly in place and all the fittings also remain very nice and do include a desirable cross-hand sarute as well as a slightly faded but nice brown and blue tassel. The metal scabbard has a couple of small dings, nevertheless also remains in very good serviceable condition and wears beautiful fittings. Overall measuring 40 1/8 inches in length.
