These KNIL-helmets were manufactured (post-1941, pre-1945) in USA (Milwaukee Saddlery Company, Milsco) after the occupation of Holland by the Germans and was used against the Japanese in 1941. The helmet had been in use post-WW2 by the civil defense in the Netherlands. It still has its original KNIL liner, but one leather pad was replaced by a Dutch M27/38 type. The other 2 pads are missing the pouches to be filled for size adjustment. The chin strap is the M27/38 type (the KNIL chin strap was broader). So far all is original, the restoration consisted of adding a sun protection, refinishing in the original color, and refitting the original liner with new rivets. No Marks or signs. The helmet still has most of the original olive-green color. These Milsco helmets never had the heraldic lion of The Kingdom welded. The sun protection leather was cut off, and I replaced the missing part. See the perfect liner with the 4 horse-hair pouches fixed together. The chin strap is original and on full length.
