IMPERIAL RUSSIA ORDER OF ST. STANISLAUS (St Stanislaus) , medal, gold cross, with maker hallmarks to Eduard, superb enamels on correct ribbon. Very rare 2nd class. Established first by the Kingdom of Poland and after the Partition by the three world powers, the Czar nationalized to Russia the Order of the White Eagle, The Order of the Virtuti Militiari in 1831 and the Order of St Stanislaw. St Stanislaw is the national saint of Poland. His body is entombed in a silver casket on top of the alter at the Wawel Cathedral in Krakow. A most beautiful work of art. The Russians gave out thousands of these orders and they are available on the market for its gold content, however the Polish version has not been seen for sale for over fifty years in any class. This is an original very large Garrison flag given to Imperial Japanese 1st Fleet Admiral Seizo Kobayashi from the crew of the battleship Kongo. Admiral Kobayashi was the 1st Fleet Admiral from 1931 to 1933 and later went on to be the 17th Governor General of Taiwan. He served on the Kongo early in his career as a gunnery Officer, so the flag was probably given to him by the crew upon his retirement from the military. The flag is very large and has three panels sewn together with heavy leather tabs on one side, it measures 12 feet 8 inches by 8 feet 5 inches. There are some stains on the flag in several spots, but no holes or rips, it is in excellent condition for its age. This is a great piece of military history. All our items come from estate sales, yard sales, or places that we have traveled. All Japanese items came from Japan. I lived in Japan for 8 years and collected several nice pieces. We are a smoke free home, but many of the items were acquired from homes that may have smoked.
