The blade is steel, straight, flat, hexagonal. Two cutting edges polished, no heel. The handle is round, wooden, plastic-topped orange. By spiral grooves handle wrapped with wire. At the bottom of a cylindrical sleeve, decorated with ornaments made of oak leaves. Spherical head handle, molded together with the upper nut. Decorated on both sides of the relief image of a s and an ornament from oak leaves. The head is screwed onto the blade shank and has a flat circular top a button. Cross-cast, from the front side in the form of a flying eagle carrying a s in its claws. On the reverse side has a cross dotted background. All metal parts are cast from aluminum hilt. The scabbard is made of metal, solid, surface covered with small dots. The end of the sheath round, with three embossed belts, decorated with ornaments made of oak leaves. Dimensions: Overall length: 430 mm, blade length: 255 mm, width of the blade: 18 mm. This is a very nice example of a well made German Trench Knife / Boot Knife that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a “W” marked blade that measures 6 3/4 inches in length which remains in superb original condition with only some minor surface blemishes. It has a two piece riveted wooden grip that also remains in excellent condition. The black lacquered scabbard wears a belt clip and remains near perfect in its condition as well with just some light surface scuffing. Overall measuring 11 1/2 inches in length. This is a good example of a German Ordnance Sword Saber which was manufactured by Carl Eickhorn. It is mounted with a slightly curved blade that measures 34 1/8 inches in length which remains in near mint condition and is well marked by the maker underneath the languet. The brass guard also remains very nice that is well marked on the underside as well as is dated “38” and the leather finger loop is present but severed. The composite covered hilt remains very nice and tight with the original twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. The MATCHING blued metal scabbard also remains in very nice original condition. This is a good example of a German World War II Era Trench Knife. The blade does remain in good condition and measures 5 3/4 inches in length. The blade is well marked “PUMA SOLINGEN” on the ricasso on one side. It wears a beautiful two piece red bakelite grip that is triple riveted and remains secure and healthy.
