Odd model that is not of brass fittings as per regulations but instead is iron/nickel hilted version which is mounted with a blade stamped with the AP , fasces and CM markings and these were from the Arsenal of Paris that inspected foreign made blade so big possibility this sword was for Allied heavy cavalry (Wurttemberg, Bavaria, Holland, Bade etc). Another possibility is that it was made during the end of the Empire with an iron hilt due to shortage of brass and given an old recycled blade. Whatever the reason, it has history and is super attractive! Good condition: the whole sword is in very shiny state with some spots here and there but overall very well preserved, but the handguard has some light movement. The knuckle bow is stamped with faint barred numbers and inspection marks. The scabbard also has a barred service number and a stamp at the drag; it also has that unknown rope holding the 2 rings, something which is very often encountered on period swords. Sword length: 43 / 110cm. Blade length: 37 / 95cm. Total length: 45 / 115cm. Low reserve price for such a sought after model! This is a vintage US Army McClellan Cavalry saddle and blanket. The saddle says it is an 11 inch and the leather on the stirrups is marked “US” other then that those are the only marks I see. The wood on the stirrups is cracked and the leather skirt and stirrup straps look to have been replaced, other then that the saddle is in great condition. The blanket is blue with a gold star, it has moth damage or some type of bug damage to the material. Overall both still display great. This is a very nice example of a Large Variation of a Japanese Cavalry Officer’s Sword, Type 19 which would have been in service all the way up to World War II. It is mounted with a plated machine made large blade that measures 34 3/8 inches in length by 1 1/16 inches at the widest. The blade remains in nice condition with some minor surface blemishes. A LATE ISSUE ORIGINAL US CAVALRY SADDLE CLOTH FOR A TROOPER IN “I” TROOP OF THE 4th CAVALRY. IT HAS A YELLOW LEATHER NUMBER “4” AND THE LETTER “I” IN THE CORNER. THEY WERE GLUED IN PLACE PERHAPS DURING THE PERIOD OF USE OR BY A MORE RECENT COLLECTOR OR REENACTOR. THE LETTERS ARE WELL MADE AND ARE 1 AND 3/4 INCH HIGH. THEY SEEM TO HAVE BEEN THERE FOR A LONG TIME. ON THE INSIDE THERE IS A VERY WELL PRESERVED WHITE PAINT SET OF CROSS SWORDS WITH THE “4” AND “I” BELOW AS WELL AS A TROOPER NUMBER. ONE CAN SEE THE SEWING HOLES OF THE ORIGINAL “4” AND “I” IN THE CLOTH. THERE IS NO OTHER ISSUE OR MANUFACTURE MARKING THAT I COULD FIND. THE HEAVY WEB CANVAS CLOTH IS DIRTY ON THE OUTSIDE FROM FIELD USE. IT SHOWS A LOT OF GREENISH COLOR SOILING AND I DO NOT KNOW IF IT COULD BE CLEANED. MINOR FRAYING ON THE EDGE, PARTICULARLY WHERE THE STIRRUP STRAPS RUBBED THE CLOTH. THE STITCHING IS SOLID. THIS SADDLE CLOTH LOOKS GREAT WITH A 1928 McCLELLAN SADDLE WITH FULL SKIRT AS IT HIDES MUCH OF THE SOILING. THE INSIDE IS FAIRLY CLEAN AS IT WAS PROTECTED BY THE SADDLE WOOL BLANKET BUT CLEARLY THIS CLOTH WAS USED IN THE FIELD. THE CLOTH MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 21 x 31 INCH AT THE WIDEST POINT. NOTE THAT THE SADDLE STAND AND OTHER PROP SHOWN IN THE PICTURES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS LISTING. THIS LISTING IS ONLY FOR THE SADDLE CLOTH DESCRIBED ABOVE. Devoid of markings save a small boxed MA and serial number. If you have any questions or would like more pictures, please feel free to ask.
