This is an extremely nice example of a Japanese D-Guard Army Officer’s Kyu Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a gorgeous well made grooved, unsigned blade which wears a cutting edge that measures 27 3/8 inches in length. The blade remains in near perfect original polished condition boasting its attractive actively wavy temper line. The fabulous large D-guard has now beautifully patined with age and frames a very nice white rayskin covered hilt that remains very healthy and continues to wear its original twisted wire wrap securely in place. The plated metal scabbard remains very nice as well with only some light flaking to the plating at the extreme drag edge and has no dings. Overall measuring 37 5/8 inches in length. This is a very nice example of a short Japanese Army Officer Sword which dates from the Showa Era and is in Civilian Mount. It is mounted with a well-made arsenal blade that wears a cutting edge of 21 1/2 inches and from tip to tip it measures 29 1/8 inches in length. The blade boasts a lovely straight temper line which extends to the tip on both sides and remains in beautiful original condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The tang wears a Showa stamp and is signed ” Fukumoto KANEMUNE “. It wears gorgeous matching menuki and simple but very nice fuchi kashira that all remain in very nice condition as well. This is a nice example of a beautifully well made Japanese Army Officer’s Sword that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a Gendai handfordged blade which wears a cutting edge that measures 25 5/8 inches in length which boasts a gorgeous actively wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The blade has survived in very nice condition with only some minor surface blemishes and very light oxidation spots at the extreme tip. The tang is signed which translates to ” Noshu Seki Junin Kanemitsu “. All the fittings remain in very nice, clean condition as well and with the original brown and blue Officers tassel still present. The metal scabbard also remains very nice in its condition. This is a good example of a Japanese Army NCO Sword, Type 32 that wears matching numbers. It is mounted with well made machine made blade that measures 30 3/8 inches in length which remains in good condition with some minor surface oxidation spots near the tip. It wears a metal D-guard and a checkered wooden grip with a side lock that also remains healthy and tight. The guard is marked by the Tokyo arsenal and is dated “Taisho3″ which translates to “1914”. The MATCHING metal scabbard is slightly stained nevertheless does remain in very good serviceable condition and has no dings. Overall measuring 37 inches in length. This is a good example of a War-Time Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a lovely, unmarked, oil-tempered blade that wears a cutting edge which measures 24 1/4 inches in length. The blade is uncleaned, untouched in its condition with a light surface oxidation now developed which could be cleaned up in the right hands, and does continue to wear it beautiful, wide actively wavy temper line. All the fittings including the wrapping remain very nice and are wonderfully accentuated with fabulous golden civilian lobster menuki on either side. The War-Time wooden scabbard wears a leather combat covering that although is a bit weathered with some of the stitching now loose, does remain in good serviceable condition. This is a very good example of a well made Thai / Siamese Army Officer Dagger. It is mounted with a beautiful plain blade that measures 11 3/16 inches in length which remains in nice condition with only minor surface blemishes. The hilt wears a wonderfully detailed elephant head pommel that frames a samé covered hilt which remains very nice in its condition as well and with its original twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. Very Rare Antique Chinese Republic Army Officer General? The sword is made in the style of the Japanese Meiji Period Officer’s Kyu-gunto Katana sword, with a large solid brass D shaped guard, decorated in inner side with two crossed National Flags of the Republic of China, a Five bar – coloured flag. Please see the links below. The brass back-strap with an integral helmet formed pommel stamped on the top with 98, is engraved with Iron Blood 18-Star of Wuchang Uprising, flanked by 4 five pointed stars, possibly the rank of the Superior General First Class of the Chinese Army YjÃshangjià ng. But we are not assured, amidst the floral garlands also adorned with 4 five pointed stars. For the ranks of Chinese army please see the link below. The wooden grip is covered in Ray skin and wrapped in twisted and straight brass wire, brass ring with the button to release the locking mechanism that holds the scabbard to the hilt, stamped with 98. The slightly curved, long and sturdy, steel blade in the form of Japanese Katana blade (possibly an original Japanese blade) is chrome or nickel plated, but still sharp. The steel scabbard, with wood insert, original to the sword, with single suspension ring is stamped on the mouth, and the shoe with 178. Most of the Chinese republic dress swords are with a crudely made brass hilt and poor quality tiny blades. This particular sword which we are offering for sale is with a superb quality hilt and strong katana type blade which is fairly scarce and unique. We were not able to find another sword of comparable quality in any of the references, including the internet sources. Possibly this is the only example of this rare sword known to exist, and this may be the only chance in life to acquire such an authentic, unique example, of Chinese sword. CONDITION: In good condition considering its age, Showing the wear and the usage. The nickel or chrome plating on the steel blade slightly worn with some light surface staining, the tip with a small nick. The brass hilt with remains of the silver color plating. So it is possible that the brass hilt was plated, or just highlighted by silver, nickel, or chrome plating. The steel scabbard with surface rust, and one minor dent on the spine. The Blade and the scabbard can be easily cleaned, but we left the sword in untouched condition, as it was found. MEASUREMENTS (approximately): The overall length in the scabbard is: 96.5 cm (37.99 inches). The overall length of the sword without the scabbard: 89 cm (35.04 inches). The overall length of the blade 73 cm (28.74 inches). The width of the blade: 2.8 cm (1.1 inches). The spine thickness of the blade: 8 mm (0.31 inches). In the Country in which you live. Maker– Herald marked on the mainspring winding wheel as pictured. Case Material– 9K Solid Gold. Case Color– Pinkish Yellow. Functions are also checked-date -day-timers functions etc. Any function problems that we find at the time will be noted or corrected. Watch cases are sanitized by steam and ultrasonic cleaning methods so that the new owner won’t have the previous owners dirt and grime to deal with. If for some reason the case can’t be cleaned we will note that. Dial Condition– Nice original porcelain dial with new luminous added. Hands are also original with new luminous. Original domed glass crystal. Case Condition–Ok used with wear around the bezel edge with at some time in the past was repaired. Looks to have used silver solder as the repair lines look silverish in color. The grill guard is not original to this watch but with the guard attached you don’t see the bezel edge imperfections. Some tarnish spots on the case back as pictured. Case Size– 37mm Lug End to End , 33mm Across the case not including the Crown.
